MOUNTAIN HOUSE (CBS13) The community of Mountain House is days away from having no water at all after the state cut off its only water source.
Anthony Gordon saves drinking water just in case, even though he never thought it would come to this.
My wife thinks Im nuts. I have like 500 gallons of drinking water stored in my home, he said.
The upscale community of Mountain House, west of Tracy, is days away from having no water. Its not just about lawnsthere may not be a drop for the 15,000 residents to drink.
Were out there looking for water supplies as we speak, said Mountain House general manager Ed Pattison. We have storage tanks, but those are basically just to ensure the correct pressurization of the distribution system. No more than 2 days are in those storage tanks.
The communitys sole source of water, the Byron-Bethany Irrigation District, was one of 114 senior water rights holders cut off by a curtailment notice from the state on Friday.

They should state that they all identify as being fully hydrated.
Problem solved.
Haha!
You sat around lecturing us about the goodness and morality of high taxes.
So now, what are you in this rich berg getting for your money? Completely cut off. :)
Just think: if this was a poor black neighborhood the UN and the Federal government would be descending on the State of California. But because you’re rich and white it’s all okay.
And you’re racist if you complain. You’re the one who gets shouted down if you dare criticize the big libs in power. :)
Well enjoy it: you voted for it.
Great example of normalcy bias. Even with city officials saying they will be out of water in a few days she won't believe it, because things like that aren't supposed to happen.
They are still building high density “affordable housing” and over running older established neighborhoods like the one I left in August of last year.
Let ‘em die of thirst. It’s all about the snail darter.
snail darter was on the Little T, not in California
Who, me?
You know this website is published in the Central Valley of CA, right?
The only people building anything in California are Mexicans and Government.
They have the highest sense of ownership.
Just this morning as I went out. I saw on our complex bulletin board a message from our manager. To please conserve water. We had to reduce a (I forgot) percentage or else the property will be taxes. Which means folks our rent will increase.
GOD I HATE DEMOCRATS!!!
She no longer thinks your nuts for storing the water. But now she thinks you're a complete idiot for blabbing about it to everybody.
If only Kalifornia had a large body of water right next door, their problems would be solved.
“The Water Knife.”
Maybe they should rethink letting in millions of illegals to drink their water...
I’m sure they could do it, but desalination plants must be icky-poo to them.
Development has been pretty flat here for several years.
It’s not just the water problem, it’s mainly the regulatory environment, workers comp, and Sacramento in general.
Those of us with property and water rights (old federal patented mining claim) would probably do very well to start putting our land on the market.
There is always some idiot with more money than common sense, who wants to have a small (20 acres) estate in the mountains “away from it all”, dumb asses!
Hell; I would do it myself but I am just to damn old to start another orchard and farm some where else.
When I bought my place up here you could pick up good land, with water for about 1800 to 2000 dollars an acre. Now I see a lot of the smaller land owners are listing and selling at 250,000 to 550,000 dollars for 1.5 to 3 acre parcels.
A quick look on google maps shows the town was built on a desert. Across the highway is green farmland but it's brown on their side of the highway. Guess that master-planned community wasn't so master planned.
Try water witching. It worked for Llano, TX four years ago.
Have residents started stealing water from each other yet?
We didn’t all vote for this clusterf#ck slick.
