Oh so now YOU are saying WIKILEAKS is making this up?
If it isn't, then why is Manning in jail and Snowden hiding out in Russia?
The fact is you dont know and you dont understand the facts. Ted Cruz does understand the facts and the history, as well as the strategy for HIS VERSION of international trade that will benefit Americans.
TPA under President Cruz is a GOOD thing for America.
TPA under President Hillary is a BAD thing for America.
TPA is not a bad thing in itself. Its is the person not the thing that is important.
Thank You,Thank You,Thank You, what is so damned hard to understand here?
TPA - the authority to 'fast track' secret Presidential trade agreements (TPP & others) with a straight up/down vote by congress.(60 day public review was in the TPA)
Some like me may fear, like we've seen in the past with RINOs that pass a bill out of committee with their Yes or Yeah then vote No or Nay on their congressional vote when they figure the full senate or house has the votes to pass, allowing cover for them passing the bill out the committee in the first place.
TPA gets passed, then Obama rallies his party (Pelosi gets her mind right) & the RINOs to pass TPP with a majority vote, while Conservatives get to vote no.
Why give Obama the TPA vehicle to pass Obamacare size secret trade agreements with limited review & no amendments?
You’re quite the demagogue.
Right now Obama is president and there is a chance Hillary wins in 2016. So why vote for it now?
Because there’s not a chance in hell the Democrats of today would ever allow it to see the light of day with say a President Cruz.
Bridging the Hatch-Wyden Divide Over Trade Promotion Authority
Senators Strike Trade Deal to Let Congress Slow Fast Track
Go back and review the FR threads on this from April to behold the outrage and indignation at Hatch. I ain't going to dig them out for kool-aid drinkers with such short-memories.
The House doesn’t ratify treaties. That’s only a Senate power.
That is correct, and it requires a two-thirds vote. How would the sixty vote disapproval enter into the equation? And I didn’t know that they could convert bills to treaties.
Both of those articles show that 60 votes are required to change a fast tracked bill but neither states a simple majority (or 60 votes) is needed to either pass or stop a fast tracked item which is unchanged.
However, a simple majority can pass or fail a fast-tracked bill.
What’s not to understand?
See my take @ # 184.
So what? In this day and age, most people of influence have some connection or have profits from the evil bankers. I've been a shareholder in numerous banks in the past until I cashed out just as the recession hit.
BTW, did you know that Cruz is in the highest percentile regarding conservatism according to numerous think tanks?
Shoot me if I am wrong but the TPA reduces the TPP passage requirements in the senate from 60 votes to a simple majority of 51. So, if Obama gets his TPA and then the senate, after Obama is thru negotiating the TPP, gets a yes or no vote only with no changes or ammendments with a 51 vote passage. BINGO, easy passage and we are screwed once again by our elected officials in DC.
Meanwhile, Jeff Sessions is still the lone voice crying out in the wilderness warning folks about what TPA-TPP is all about.
I'll stick with Sessions on this, thank you very much.
Thanks for the link. I suppose that could be taken as a small positive. However, notice the last line:
Weve never had a trade bill fail, Portman said.
If TPA passes, then the Republicans may have journeyed from mere traitors to snakes. The Republican victory last November has morphed into a nightmare.
Just show the text that freaking backs you up!! You know how to copy and paste.
Forget that nonsense! We are interested only in the important issue! How many traffic tickets does she have?
That is my first. The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote to pass a treaty. They can’t amend the Constitution with a vote on a bill. Evidently, things are going on undercover.
I am reminded of the Rubeo inferno when he went over to the dark side (gang of 8). Or when Newt was coasting to the nomination until "Im prepared to take the heat for saying, lets be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families. after that Newt was toast dido Perry after his "You don't have a heart" remark. Cruz if he had any brains should have seen this coming from a mile away. Bad Bad Bad judgement.
