Tea Party-backed Senate candidate Ted Cruz points with pride to the army of small conservative donors supporting him. But his largest longtime contributor is a gay billionaire who supports same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization, campaign finance filings show.
Peter Thiel, a German-born hedge fund manager and founder of the online payment system PayPal, gave Cruz $251,000 in 2009 for his aborted run for attorney general. The money represented 19 percent of the total raised for that campaign, which Cruz ended after Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to run for re-election. ...

I am encouraging my Reps to vote NO on TPA, but your graphic may show some positives and maybe can explain Cruz’s being for TPA.
I also suspect lots of R support, because this will carry over to the next GOP POTUS.
Simply because this TPA is being pushed by this POTUS, is more than ample reason to oppose it. We need to box him in and let him pissaway a lot less money flying about on AF1 on a non-stop vacation until Jan 2017.
Now Nancy Pelosi says she’ll vote against TPP if it stops TPA.
She likely knows she has Boehner/Pubbie cover.
All this will do is make the lefties green with envy. It won’t even be a speed bump for Cruz...he’ll use it to his advantage (as only he can do), to turn it around on the leftists who try this cr@pola type of smear.
There are no "true" conservatives, only "good enough" conservatives. The trade deal is not a "true" conservative / liberal issue, otherwise you wouldn't see the split in the vote with lots of liberals voting against. The trade deal does show that Cruz is prone to a "moderate" vote from time to time. This is one of those times.
Amen to that.
Yeah, I don’t see much, if any, issue with this.
Unless someone can show evidence of a direct quid-pro-quo, particularly on social issues, if this guy wants to invest in Ted Cruz based on what Cruz stands for, I’m cool with it.
And this was six years ago. I don’t see any evidence since then of Cruz contorting his social issues positions into pretzels based on it.
I don’t see it that way.
The trade deal, from my perspective, has turned into a Conservative/Liberal issue because Jeff Sessions and others are saying it includes provisions that would transfer power from the Congress to the President, and sovereign rights from the US to international bodies.
That makes it a Conservative/Liberal issue.
Now that may be true, it may be false. Since TPP won’t be made public until after TPA is passed, stripping the ability to filibuster the thing, it’ll be too late to stop it from being passed on a simple majority vote.
“Why are there so many gay billionaires out there?”
They don’t have to pay child support?
