The House this morning takes up the bill to authorize Obama to negotiate a Trans-Pacific trade deal. Despite the GOP leadership's support, conservatives may well defeat it: they fell by one vote short last night, on a procedural vote on the rule, that would have killed it. Call your congresscritters to vote NO, and post comments and links here if you wish
Did Cruz tell you that besides all the other bad stuff TPA lowers the threshold vote on TPP to 51 votes? Thanks for nothing Ted.
I guess it was just a promise... which is about as worthless as anything these days... even new laws.
This assistance to the American worker is stupid. So they retrain the worker, but there isn’t any job after the training because of the trade deal. It’s just a way to spend more tax payers money.
Trade enforcement customs just passed 240 to 190. It has the republican language in it which modifies TPA that was already passed. Now TAA is all that is left to pass (upon reconsideration). Who knows.... I suspect Boehner has it nailed down.
“someone right now is promising Pelosi something”
LOL! You can ‘Boehner’. It’s a curse word but acceptable in mixed company...
Obama has probably already given her all she wants.
I’m so disgusted by the whole bunch of them my head is going to blow off. The arrogance of these GOP senators and congressmen is beyond the pale. They care nothing for the will of the American people. Its surreal.
I’m going to make a prediction that its the accumulation of stuff like this that drives people to a candidate like Trump. Do not be surprised if he announces and gets high poll numbers.
Sheesh... so now they are going to adjourn after some one minute speeches...until Monday. That gives Boehner and Pelosi and Obammy the weekend to work this thing out and get the third part passed.
So true.
Looks like the re-vote on TAA will be next week.
yep
This also proves that Boehner, McCarthy, Scalise, and Ryan can't count worth a s**t..
Sometimes a cigar is just a good smoke.
Sometimes a vacation is just a long planned for means to get away from it all.
....and life goes on.

Don’t see anything more they can do.
Hope I’m wrong.
and burning dung at that!
-— It is TPA that makes the 60 days a requirement. -—
That’s my understanding as well, but it’s tough to figure out what’s going on.
This thing is not over. We have to contact our representatives and voice our opinion over the weekend, and in the days next week leading up to the re-vote on TAA. So far Boehner didn’t get it done. He is going to apply some serious pressure now. We have to continue to fight this thing.
But you obviously didn’t hear Ted’s interview. The vote does lower down, but it also brings in the House to vote as well. Ted explains exactly why and where the Constitution dictates this. The House should have a say when revenue generation is involved, and tariffs are just that. This lowers the Senate vote but includes the House of Representatives. That actually is bringing more input. The House represents the people’s voice.
I wonder if anyone here has thought about the fact that the UNIONS are against the TPA.
I wonder why that is? And if they are against it and the majority of Democrats are against it, why?
Do you suppose it’s not as bad as many are being misinformed that it is?
And mind you, I’m not talking about the trade deal (TPP). I’m talking about the bill about the procedures FOR trade deals - the TPA.....
Unless Beohner released the Republican votes because of the plan for the sudden one two vote that resulted in the passage of the Trade Promotion Authority bill. It is hard to keep it straight amid all the scheming.
TPA doesn’t become law unless TAA is passed. Senate joined the two together. All or nothing.
