BONN, Germany (Reuters) - Pope Francis is likely to have a major impact in spurring U.N. negotiations on global warming with an encyclical on the environment next week, the U.N.'s climate chief said on Thursday.

"Pope Francis is personally committed to this issue like no other pope before him," Christiana Figueres told a news conference at June 1-11 talks on a deal to combat climate change due to be agreed in Paris in December.

The encyclical, a letter sent to bishops, due next Thursday would add a moral dimension to work on climate change for many believers, who would view it as a way to protect creation, she predicted.

Why can’t some good scientists see this chap. Explain why they are “deniers” if that word must be slung around.

There hasn’t been a ‘major impact’ on abortion... wonder why the press would feel ‘climate change’ would be different.../s

The Pope should stick to theology, not politics - and “climate change” is pure politics with nothing to do with science.

I think that if the European headquarters wanted Catholics to quit voting democrat, that they would make it happen.

I’m very skeptical about this pope. I’m not sure the college of cardinals made the right decision.

And it has even less to do with morality — than it does with science.

It’s because the MSM AGREES with the Pope on this issue but not on abortion. They’ll give him lots of free press - fawn over him and print attractive pictures.

The Pope should not fall for this...

Because eugenics, on a broader scale, would kill more of us.....with a ‘happy face’ on it.

We’ll see what the Pope writes when he publishes it. I do think it’s interesting that we see so many articles pre-analyzing. In my experience, that usually means the MSM is concerned that it won’t say what they want and need to paint it early and often to overcome its impact.

This ASS CLOWN EXCUSE FOR A POPE is a narcissistic menace, a total socialist fruitcake. Bergoglio was Peron leftist from the word go, whose jackass Jesuit “theology” is completely imbedded with materialistic philosophy. There is not a spiritual bone in this fool’s body - unless he is channeling Marx. This grinning imbecile has not even two brain cells to rub together, total empty space between his ears - and this idiocy proves the case beyond all doubt ... Oh, but “who am I to judge” this moron?

Since when has this Pope done anything about abortion? Can’t be obsessed, you know.

He fills every post with bishops and cardinals who don’t give a rat’s ass about abortion. Cupich and McElroy were both NOTED advocates of Communion-for-Pelosi. This Pope doesn’t give a rat’s ass about abortion.

If the encyclical is neutral about the Global Warming Hoax, it will consist of nothing but stale platitudes about “stewardship” and so on, and will be forgotten in a week.

If the encyclical endorses the Global Warming Hoax, it will be the scandal of the century, because the earth has been cooling for 18 years and 6 months. It will be the first encyclical in history to teach a manifest, provable hoax.

The Pope should stick to theology, not politics - and “climate change” is pure politics with nothing to do with science.

The cliché that religious people should stay out of "politics" is sloppy, intellectually lazy, and dangerous. In Germany, those who didn't want religious leaders denouncing persecution of the Jews, or the eugenics program, complained that they were "meddling in politics."

There's absolutely no problem with Popes and bishops getting involved in "politics," provided they denounce crimes and evil, rather than promoting them.

I would have no problem if the Pope got involved in the Global Warming Hoax issue. If he DENOUNCED it as a massive swindle and totalitarian power grab.

That wouldn't be "politics." It would be MORAL TEACHING.
