Why its absurd for conservatives to oppose a free-trade deal just because the White House wants it.
As far as I can tell, there are two general objections to the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) the White House is pushing for. The first one is wrong, but at least substantive. The other, which has picked up some currency on the Right, is simplistic and partisan. So theres something for everybody!
First, some background. The Trans Pacific Partnership, a trade deal with Asian nations that the White House and congressional Republican leadership both want, would still have to survive an up-or-down House and Senate vote, regardless of what happens with the TPA (TPA, or fast-track negotiating authority, as it used to be called, has already passed the Senate and is expected to come up for a vote in the House soon.)
So lets begin with the objection that is sincere, if (in my opinion) flawed. Just as technological advances create winners and losers, free trade also has its ups and downs. If consumers can stretch their dollars further because the goods they can now purchase become cheaper, that means they can provide their family with more stuff for less money, presumably allocating the leftover money to other areas, such as savings or purchasing other goods.

You can be against free trade if you want, but dont try to tell me its just because you dont like Obama. Come on, you can do better than that.

Most jobs are in services now, person to person exchanges, so free trade necessarily entails the free movement of persons as well.
Free trade in the past was just about products, but the manufacture of products is a small part of our economy now in terms of jobs.
TTIP is about global trade rules for services. Get ready, if you think you’re safe, you are not.

I understand how you feel. Nauseates me to hear them pontificate as well, but I’d urge you to re-consider.
We either do this thing in a civil manner or one day it will not be so civil.
The more people that call and express their knowledge of a this or that, convey your point in a logical, well thought out...and stern manner, the more they think to themselves...oh crap, this could go against me in the next election.
It’s all about that seat. They do not want to be tossed.
Again, I respect your opinion. Please call and give’m your mind.
This from a Marxist calling for central planning for others, but not for himself. That’s a belly laugh.

Thanks for introducing me to Goodwin ‘ s Econcomix.
Although a bit left of center in his take on things, they are informative and thought provoking.
His take on Obamacare could have been more balanced, intellectually honest.
I’m calling reps in DC shortly to Strongly oppose TPP -

I told him if the Bill passes I am done voting Republican.
We need to find a TeaParty candidate to primary against him.
At the point of my reply you had not responded to a single poster, and yes, you were asked questions.
