Its declassified and made public once its agreed to, Ryan said of Obamatrade in Rules Committee testimony on Wednesday during questioning from Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) .
maybe because the most radical of union thugs, Bernie Sanders, and Liz Warren oppose it?
As for me, I am withholding judgment, though I am extremely skeptical. There are the worst of the worst on both sides of the issue......
Just to be clear....you are judging Cruz, a guy who you have followed for years, based on a document he has read and you haven’t? And Cruz is on the other side of the argument from the union protectionist thugs and Bernie Sanders the Socialist, who have also read it?
I’m just saying, the “duck” test is a truism...not 100% absolute truth however.
Politics attracts narcissists. Narcissists don’t like to be questioned. There are tons of them in all political parties.
I once was training a young man from China who had just learned that one of women we interacted with was going to run for public office. He said, “Kim wants to control people”. He was effectively correct, and this is applicable in a broader sense. Kind of sad.
The transformation is complete. Ryan has gone full RINO.
It’s crazy to follow by design.
I’m saying I don’t support Cruz on Obamatrade and H1B visas.
It is his support for H1B visas, and again the appearance of immigration in ObamaTrade that saddens me. Cruz is wrong on the need for H1B immigration.
And it is from the point of his doubling down in support of that that he began to stall in the polls.
So, I wrote him and asked him to change this. Not heard back yet.
yes, it’s hurt him in the polls. I agree. Fact remains, he may know more about both than you do on these issues? He said some 300 thousand of those jobs covered by the H1B’s are unfilled. Is that true? I have no idea. This is not an area of expertise for me - and I doubt it’s an area of expertise for many around here.
There is a reason we have a Representative Republic and not a Direct Democracy you know.
How well I remember FReepers gushing over his nomination as VP candidate. I see the same behavior here now over certain candidates. Never put your faith in any politician. Ever.
As I said, I wrote him. That seemed fair to me, to express my disagreement. However, I've been doing some checking around myself. The above article was posted yesterday and gives some good background.
BTW, I have 2 areas of disagreement with Ted Cruz at this point. There are some 16 months until the election.
1. He could change his positions.
2. Even with those 2 negatives, his overall positives could still be the best in the field. Even with those, he’s better than Bush.
Way before the election is the time to bring this out and get it changed....not as they’re heading down the stretch.
BTW, you’ll enjoy the article I just linked.
It’s a review only - It’s an up-down vote with no ability to offer Amendments or changes. So much for due process on three massive trade agreements which give away our capability to act as a sovereign, multi-branch democratic republic.
It is absolutely fair to question and express disagreement. All I was saying that you may not have the correct info. (or you may, I do not know).
As for that article, it was interesting, but a few things to consider. It didn’t count, that I could tell, those STEM grads and jobs in EDUCATION. Second, it’s done by a group that is always on the side of reducing immigration, period, every time, every issue, end of discussion.
Now that may be a defendable position. I have no problem with it....but this is not a neutral source on this debate. So is Cruz misinformed? Is he agenda’d? Is he biased? Is he lying? He has to be at least one of those if your figures are correct.
All of that is very reasonable....
Just sick.
“When we pass it” doesn’t usually mean “when other countries agree to it.”
I believe he is blackmailed. Obama has been after him ever since he disproved the numbers on Obamacare back in 2009. He looked at Ryan across the table as if sizing him up for target practice.
There may be enough “good stuff” in it to ruin the careers of our “representatives” if they vote against it. Similar to defense bills, where despicable amendments are attached but no one dares vote against it because their political enemies will simplify their vote as being “against defense.”
The amendments that we and our “representatives” would suggest if they could are already outlawed by fast track.
It will be too late then to call for cutting off anyone’s head.
We don’t know everything that’s in it. We have scattered leaks of toxic elements that the PTB are already running out the clock on.
We have to see it. If we wait until after it’s law, we might as well cut off our own heads.
It’s Obama’s old toothpaste-out-of-the-tube trick, on a grand scale. Once all the countries have agreed to it, what are you gonna do? Go back and have to renegotiate every point with every country? Not feasible. So show it to us first, then to the other countries. Who’s boss here anyway?
Ryan is twisting words. It hasn’t been agreed to by the other countries—therefore it “doesn’t exist.” But once it “exists,” no amendments are allowed. Verbal gymnastics worthy of jesuitical lawyers.
