GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Pot divides the real estate industry -- Colorado may have legalized recreational marijuana, but not all landlords are on board with pot on their property.

According to Dan Slover, a broker at Cedar Creek Property Management, it comes down to landowner preference whether or not they will allow the possession, consumption, and production of marijuana in their rentals.

That is your attack on our pro-life/pro-marriage politics of freerepublic?

You sure have some interesting views for this conservative site.

I’d focus more on the Carl Sagans of the world. There are certainly plenty of non-loser pot smokers in the world. Of course most highly successful people have character issues (time is limited, to do all that successful stuff there’s other things they don’t do and learn) so any example will run into issues.

If Christian bakers can be forced to participate in gay weddings, they haven’t got a case.

It's common sense, really. In the end, it doesn't really matter who we are, or what we do, the fact is, in the end, we're all human!

Actually, I suspect the main reason for the landlords specifically excluding pot from their rental properties is because the feds can steal your property through the wonders of asset forfeiture if they don’t.

Of course they wouldn't, but you are missing the point entirely. You are perpetuating ignorant stereotypes, simply because your own biases (based on propaganda and lies) keep you from seeing the truth.

I'm retired LE and I know the consequences of smoking weed. I got to deal with it every shift. There's a reason it's called dope.

Makes sense! Like I said, your biases are getting in the way.

You might want to put the bong down and lay off the stuff for a while.

Too busy being a productive, voting, tax paying Member of society. Why would I stop now? See? Your biases again. Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate your service, but as a former LE in training, I know the nonsense spread about pot in the LE community. I ended up ending my quest to become LE, after several ride alongs (I had passed oral review, psych eval, DRUG TEST, etc.) and found that, in general, LE is willing to pi$$ all over the Constitution - no way I could stomach that, so I pulled my name from consideration. Between that, and the stories of "elbow time" (you know, seeing how many times you can brush a female perps breast during booking), I was just completely floored at the amount of bias, and anti-freedom mentality in the LE community.

I ain't trying to harangue you or nothing. In truth, I pray every day that all y'all make it home safe yet another night. But when it comes to the "dope" issue, I do believe LE is on the wrong side of freedom.

You have a good point, but to me it doesn’t matter why a landlord would want to put restrictions of any kind on potential tenants...it’s HIS (or her) property.

if property owners can ban smoking, and they should be able too, than they can ban pot smoking. same smell cleanup when non owners move out. as foir edibles no so much though they should have the same restrictions as those foisted on gun owners, ie locked up when not eating. edible container locks, insurance.
