Famed former prosecutor and author Vincent Bugliosi has died of cancer at age 80, family members said Monday night. Bugliosi was best known for successfully prosecuting Charles Manson and three followers for the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six other. He later co-wrote the book Helter Skelter detailing the Tate-LaBianca murder trial.
Born in Hibbing, Minnesota, Bugliosi moved to LA in the 1960s, where he earned his law degree from UCLA. During his time with the Los Angeles County District Attorneys office, he successfully secured convictions in 105 of 106 felony jury trials, including 21 murder cases. Bugliosi died Saturday, June 6, at a Los Angeles hospital.
He was a workaholic. What was remarkable was he always found time for everyone who needed work. Every fan letter he received, he responded to everyone, said his son, Vincent Bugliosi, Jr. Bugliosi went into private practice in 1972, and went on to author or co-author a dozen books, including And the Sea Will Tell, Outrage: The Five Reasons Why OJ Simpson Got Away With Murder, and The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder.
He is survived by Gail, his wife of 59 years, and his two children, Wendy and Vincent Jr.
Saw that earlier I loved Helter Skelter it was a good read and I could listen to him forever interesting man RIP
Ironically Manson still lives.
The poster boy of why the death penalty is still necessary.

If only there were some way for COMPUTER SOFTWARE to recognize that a URL for an article is already posted in the database, and disallow a duplicate post.
But I guess that level of intricate programming is not yet possible in 2015.
I heard him speak to a small university gathering many years ago.
Could never shake the impression that Bugliosi fabricated the “Helter Skelter” narrative in order to get a conviction.
There was no question that Manson was behind the murders — but Bugliosi knew that the jurors might become doubtful once they learned about Manson’s ties to very well-known movers and shakers in the music industry.
He didn’t think there was enough hard evidence to show Manson’s true motivation (which was revenge against an industry which he felt had cheated him) so Bugliosi fabricated the “Helter Skelter” narrative — and the jury went along with it.
Loved “And The Sea Will Tell”.
No no thats not what i meant i saw it on another site
That wouldn’t surprise me. He supported another fabrication, the Warren Commission Report.
I’ve always contended that if manson was tried in todays courts he would walk a free man, just don’t think that evidence would get a conviction nowadays..... Just my 2 cent.
“Helter Skelter was a good read”
Read it as a teenager during summer break, usually in the daytime, scared the hell outta me.
Sad, I loved Helter Skelter and Vincent always struck me as a conservative.
He was not a Conservative
nah, just another fabricator of narratives....
That's all I need to know about the guy.
Please ping me with any Southern California related articles. Thank you!

The book aside, Bugliosi was no conservative.
Good information to know, I was a kid in the 2000s and 90s. When I read the book Helter Skelter he came off as conservative minded to me, but oh well I hope he’s found peace.
