President Barack Obama is aiming to show unity with Western allies on global challenges during an overnight trip to Germany, especially Chancellor Angela Merkel amid enduring anti-Americanism in her country over U.S. spying programs.
Obama and Merkel plan to open his visit Sunday with a public display of friendliness, delivering remarks about the U.S.-German alliance before taking a walk through the picturesque alpine village of Kruen to sample the Bavarian food and sights. Then the two plan to meet privately at the nearby site of the two-day summit of the Group of Seven leading industrial nations to coordinate their agenda before joining the leaders of Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Japan. The spying controversy has grown in recent weeks amid reports that Germanys own Federal Intelligence Agency, better known by its German acronym BND, may have helped the U.S. spy on European companies and officials as long ago as 2008. Merkels chief of staff oversees the agency, and the opposition Social Democratswho are struggling in opinion pollshave used it to put her office under pressure.

Is he offering to resign as president?
BTW, I noticed the journalist had to insert the line “as long ago as 2008” to make sure that George Bush was somehow involved. Of course, there is no evidence, just speculation by the journalist. I recognize one of them - Nedra Pickler (a known Marxist).
I think he plans to surrender.
I think the comment “as long ago as 2008” was inserted because of the Obama campaign run via Germany. Germany had to bend over backwards and allow him to give the big Berlin speech (200,000 residents showed up for the speech). The hype against the CDU (favoring the SPD slant on things) bothered Merkel and the whole CDU leadership.
Oddly, by 2012, most of the German news media had become skeptical of the US, President Obama, and economic postures being taken by the US. There are thousands of public statements in the German news media against Geithner’s economic practices.
If you were looking for the one place where public enthusiasm has fallen the most for President Obama in six years....Germany would be a leading contender.
>> Germany had to bend over backwards and allow him to give the big Berlin speech
Was there not a concert that followed his speech?
Their gold, 0bama, they want ALL their gold returned.
Cowboy Bob
Yes, that would make Merkel happy if that bozo fag resigned, WORST prez in forever.
I’m hoping Germans will turn their backs on him. He deserves no less.
Hey Angie,
Tell the quota boy to go pound sand.
Seems to me it has only been a week or so since President Obama bragged about how he has put America back into the ranks of the beloved on the world stage. Why does he have to patch relations?
A better alternative would be to stay here.
This is one of those unspoken facts...two bands headlined the activities of the day: Reggae singer Patrice and a rock band by the name Reamonn (an odd combination of rock and Raggae fans).
No one has ever said who sponsored the two bands, which might be curious to know. As for the 200,000 who came for Obama or just the free concert? It’s difficult to say. This was a Thursday, and it’s typically difficult to get big crowds to gather in Germany unless it’s a holiday or a weekend. They evidentaally heard his speech and got all peppered up.
Then we come back to the second Berlin speech (most people forget that he’s given two). 19 June 2013. It was in the middle of a heat wave period and held in the middle of the week. Berlin authorities allowed only an invited list of participants this time around (roughly 5,000). As speeches go...it was regarded as a bust....mostly because President Obama spoke at a hectic rate and seemed out-of-focus....due to the heat. The Secret Service guys put up some kind of glass protection deal....which intensified the heat upon him at a fantastic rate (must have been 110 degrees on the stand).
Do you actually think that the German nationals, in their
fervor for “Germany for Germans”, would do anything
with a man who recently declared himself,
“The closest thing to a Jew President in the White House”?
I’m confused. Didn’t King Putt just come out a couple days ago and say that under his reign (yes, that it what he thinks it is) the United States has become the most well-liked and well-respected country in the world? If so, why the need to “patch-up” relationships with anyone?
Poor gal is due.
US/German relations are fine. The problem is world leaders dislike the usurper as much as US conservatives do.
Thanks for the info. Don’t recall the second, but the first as you pointed out was rigged.
