A manhunt was underway for two convicted murderers who pulled off an elaborate overnight escape from adjoining cells in a New York state maximum security prison near the border with Canada, police said on Saturday.
Prison guards discovered that the men were missing during an early morning bed check in the Clinton Correctional Facility, in Dannemora, about 40 miles south of the Canadian province of Quebec. Both inmates are considered a danger to the public, state police said.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo described the escape, the first from the prison's maximum security facility in its 150 year history, as "sophisticated."

Still trying to figure out how they got power tools. And how no one heard anything. Both these guys are touch-hogs. One a cop killer. The other a vivisectionist. Best to avoid both...

It sure sounds like an inside job, how on earth could such equipment just... appear? And its usage trigger no alarms? Cut a hole in... cement? Noiselessly? That is, if the story itself is accurate, and someone didn’t just manage to let them out?
I raise a second theory: SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL
Only kidding...I hope they're caught *soon*.
But if I ever needed to sneak into Canada I'd do it near Derby Line,Vermont.It's an interesting place with several buildings...including public buildings,apartment buildings and private homes...located *directly* on the border.
Let’s see, NY doesn’t have the death penalty so these escaped murderers can safely murder again and again and only have their life sentences “extended” when they are caught .... so Mexican and third world.
Is there a bounty?
I wonder how soon it will be before we learn Hollywood is going to be making a movie about these two criminals?
As the old saying goes, "There ain't a horse that can't be rode, nor a man that can't be throwed."

“We’re no Angels” was a funny movie depicting two felons trying to get to Canada.
Many, many questions to be answered. Interesting it was first escape (from Max wing) since prison opened in 1865. It is odd that highway runs right by the walls. Theories abound....And what direction would they run to? Mexico is a long way away for the one thug. Kirkwood, NY not so far for the other. Stay together?
