Two years before Caitlyn Jenner showed up this week on the cover of Vanity Fair, Oliver Bishop was in crisis.
The Sonora teen’s grades had dropped, and he’d become suicidal as he sensed that puberty was beginning to trap him in a female body that seemed alien to the boy he had always been inside.
“You know you’re a guy,” he said, “but everybody doesn’t see it that way.”
Now, as the nation sees a growing acceptance of transgender people such as the former Olympian Bruce Jenner, Bay Area therapists and physicians are seeing a surge in the number of families seeking advice — and sometimes medical intervention — to help kids whose perceived genders and bodies don’t seem to match.

If you went to a surgeon and told him you wanted him to surgically remove your arms and legs and replace them with dolphin flippers, he would refer you to a psychologist because you are obviously mentally ill.
Why do we think that a girl who thinks she is a boy or a boy who wants to be a girl is different?
Exactly right - the parents DO need clinical help...for allowing their kids to entertain these BS fantasies.

I think that most of “transgenderism” is not a feeling that one is really the other gender, but a wish that one had been born the other gender. With some of the anti-male rhetoric out there, should anyone be surprised that some men wish they had been born women?
In any case, it is barbaric to pump people suffering from this mental illness and to surgically mutilate them. They need treatment, not exploitation for quick profit.
Over the past decades our public schools and the MSM have been telling our kids that being queer is cool, now they are telling them that being transgender is just as cool.
Most pf the Bay Area is indeed a “progressive” hothouse.

Girls used to be tomboys until puberty when they suddenly bloomed into girly girls. I had a couple friends like this. Most all were interested in horses! Once they matured all that went out the window. Some girls identify with their brothers and compete in sports, etc. No one thought anything of it back in the day.
There was a time when people identified by their character or at least the character they strove toward. They were concerned with such things as virtues and morality. Part of that was how they performed at their chosen profession. Achieving a level of competence in one’s profession was a sign of integrity, commitment.
Look at our old text books, the McGuffy Reader. All of those stories were about character, doing the right thing, making the right choices, accepting the consequences when we made mistakes, recognizing mistakes.
Now we laugh at such text. We tell young people it is all about them that one’s sexual identity, essentially what one does with their pelvic region is tantamount to who and what we are. How inane that one’s whole existence revolves around sexual pleasure, a mere bestial existence and when people truly act bestially we are shocked. As C.S. Lewis said, “In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.” Sadly, this has come to be literally true rather than figuratively.
