ast October, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill released findings from an internal investigation that revealed approximately 3,000 students mostly student athletes had their grades inflated through sham courses in the school's African and Afro-American studies department over a span of almost 20 years.
Now the NCAA has hit the school with five "Level 1" violations, or "severe breaches of contract" because of that grade-inflation. The NCAA says UNC faculty and staff did the following

The Hammer of Thor will come down on these cheating, arrogant bastids.....as it should.
I am guessing they skate. Its not like a stripper got gang raped by the Lacrosse team. /S
They hit 5 out of 5 of the top infractions. They ain’t gonna be skatin’.
The Dinno Nuffins?
Even though I’m a North Carolina taxpayer, I still think this is pure comedy gold. I just imagine that everything we pay the state goes to the Parks Department ;-).
Somewhere in this article I thought the NCAA would say it’s going to investigate grade inflation at all university AA/African Studies, Gender Studies, Communications, and the other departments popular with student athletes.
I guess a little truth is better than no truth at all.
So now what? They crack down on these sham classes, and within a year, will have Al Sharpton and his ilk claiming they are racist for expecting their black athletes to maintain grades in normal academic courses.
I agree. A school has to be involved in a serious pile of sh!t for the NCAA to come down on it for “grade inflation” in African-American studies.
The Gibsmedats just whacked UNC. Oh well.
Gee,what a surprise./s
.
First Duke and now UNC.
Maybe the Board of Regents should order awareness training for themselves.
ESPN has reported on this and it should never have gone on for this long.
The sad part is, the corruption in big time college sports is probably nothing compared to the corruption in big higher education overall.
I wonder how many of the Afro-American and Diaspora studies program now work for the Obama regime?
The state government of North Carolina is quite corrupt. Although long-term (until recently) Democrat control has a lot to do with it, the determination for the sports teams to win by any means is bipartisan.
A friend of mine in college (Fresno State) already had an agreement to play professional football with the Detroit Lions when he ‘graduated’ (full scholarship) from college. His courses included...Bowling, Ping Pong, Golf, Tennis... Anything but academic courses. That was early 90s. I can only imagine how bad it is now.
I sat next to Walter Davis for most of my courses in Business and Economics. He was sharp as a tack. In 1977 I graduated right between him and Bruce Buckley. Bruce was a Rhodes scholar.

Years ago, Maryland got into huge trouble for:
giving a kid a ride to class
giving sweatshirts to recruits
letting kids sell their ACC tourney tickets
the coach lied about it and tried to cover it up
They got a 1 year no TV ban, a 2 year postseason ban, loss of 2 scholarships a year for 2 years, had to pay back 400k in NCAA revenue, and got 3 years probation.
If UNC gets any less, then MD was right to leave the ACC (All Carolina Conference)
