Tariq Aziz—once Saddam Hussein’s deputy prime minister and close adviser-- has died of a heart attack in a hospital in southern Iraq, officials say.
Provincial governor Yahya al-Nassiri says Aziz, 79, died on Friday afternoon after he was taken to the al-Hussein hospital in the city of Nasiriyah, about 200 miles southeast of Baghdad, when he fell ill.

I always kind of liked Aziz and felt sorry for him in that I felt he was probably a good guy trapped in a no win role under Saddam. That said, he did cast his lot with the evil dictator.

I do not have tin foil handy but go on line and find for me something, there is no photo, no direct comments from him, no hospital updates. Nothing in almost a week since this happened, only reports that he did this and spoke to them etc.

Interesting.. I think he took a C-17? Perhaps there is some other reason for such a large aircraft to pick up one person.
Yes, for two reasons.
(1) He was intimately involved in the decision to gas Halabja, but pretended to be just a diplomat.
(2) When the regime fell, he magically remembered that he had been baptized and claimed to be a Catholic Christian - despite the fact that he changed his name from Mikail Yohannan to a Muslim one and abandoned the Church when it was convenient.
The attempts of various Paulestinans and other conspiracists on these boards to exculpate and valorize him were particularly stomach-turning.
It could very well be that C-17 flight home was a previously scheduled flight back to CONUS from an unrelated flight mission and they just put Kerry on it; kind of a space available kind of seat.
