SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The cause of death of a 22-year-old who died at the Chatham County Detention Center has been ruled a homicide, according to the Chatham County coroner. The manner of death was blunt force trauma.
Matthew Ajibade, 22, died after he was retrained and placed in an isolation cell after he was combative and injured three CCSO deputies on New Year's day.
A female sergeant suffered a concussion and broken nose, and two male deputies suffered injuries consistent with an affray. Ajibade was arrested and booked into the Chatham County Detention Center after he was arrested by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Dept. He was accused of domestic violence act, battery and obstruction of justice.
Ajibade was placed in an isolation cell due to his dangerous behavior, and when deputies performed their second welfare check, he appeared unresponsive.
Medical staff performed CPR and administered defibrillation while preparing Ajibade for transport to Memorial.
Nine Chatham County Sheriff's deputies have been fired after an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation into the death of Ajibade on Jan. 1.

This really is going to be a long, hot summer and it's just getting started.
Certainly does fit The Agenda...
Gotta destroy the Police to put in Homeland Security for the sake of Glorious Leader and the Fatherland.
If it were ruled otherwise, Sharpton, Jesse and the other professional troublemakers would have riots being organized.
Got plenty of ammo stocked up and if we want to see more than a dozen “Urban Utes” we have to go out to one of the State Prison units....
As I understand it, homicide doesn’t mean murder it just means actions of another contributed to the death..
which would be the case in self defense as well, as this clearly sounds like it was.
It sounds like this guy was putting up a good fight. One thing about prison, there are no soft spots to land on. You either land on concrete or metal. He could have easily smashed his head while he was taken down to the ground. The officers should have brought in medical staff to check him out. That’s where they screwed up.
What were they training him to do?
On-the-job training!
Good catch!
To pine for the fjords?
Those responsible have been sacked.
Reading the report, it appears he died after being “retrained ” So it appears the fault may lie with the department’s training or retraining program.
Don't go to night school - it's dangerous.
Video just released, but I didn’t watch entire thing. I hardly ever see what people says they see in these things (DAilyKos says the police tazed his testicles) . http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/graphic-video-shows-deputies-tasing-man-restraint-chair-n443251
The tazer itself had a video on it, and yeah, the guy tazed his testicles slowly and on purpose.
I hope their family owns that county, and that deputy gets a long, long time behind bars to pay for that. Anyone doing that is guilty of torture, pure and simple.
Leni
He was black, so that fits but who cares what color he was. That deputy needs to pay for doing that to him, strapped to a chair not able to resist makes it even worse.
I don’t know about the nurses, they may have been thrown under the bus just to appease people which happens in high profile cases like this, but that deputy needs to go away for a long time for doing that.
