Halfway There: Wisconsin Becomes the 25th Right-to-Work State
The American Spectator ^ | June 5, 2015 | Margaret Mire and Matt Patterson

".......His political career started in 1993, when he was elected to Wisconsin’s State Assembly. After four terms in the legislature, Walker was elected to serve as county executive of Milwaukee in 2002. According to the governor’s official bio, Walker cut the county’s workforce by upwards of 25 percent, reduced debt by 30 percent, and authored nine consecutive budgets that did not increase property tax levies.

Keen observers of Wisconsin’s political scene would have, even at this early stage in his career, seen in Walker a potential threat to public unions, whose pension demands often act as parasites to the public purse. His competence and intense focus on budgetary process, in addition to his obvious ambition, were inculcating a formidable — if unintended — future foe.

After a failed run for governor in 2006, Walker was successful his second attempt in 2010. When Walker was inaugurated as governor on January 3, 2011, the state had a projected $3.6 billion deficit. Wisconsin had upwards of $800 million in unpaid bills and had lost nearly 134,000 jobs in just the previous four years.

Walker looked at the books and saw immediately the main culprit behind Wisconsin’s flood of red ink:

Organized labor.............."

In 1935, the Wagner Act was enacted as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal. The Wagner Act, also known as the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), enshrined collective bargaining into national law and included provisions for exclusive representation that in effect forced millions of workers into unions against their will.

Raise your hand if you think the NLRA could have passed if senators still represented states. The NLRA has done enormous damage to a formerly free people.

It's an hour but by watching it ALL you will have a good idea how Walker is going to campaign and interact with the media and critics.

Everyone with half a brain (including Tom Barrett) knew Walker would sign Right to Work legislation:

Check this out:

Re: Wisconsin Idea (that Walker’s pushing back against) has had an oversized influence on our government.

“....Direct election of United States Senators as opposed to the original method of their selection by the state legislatures, eventually ratified as the Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.”.........

Adoption of these reforms marked the high point of the Progressive Era.”

“This is great if he means what he says, we know he says one thing and then again says another.

I mean how can you know he won’t reserve the right to change his mind, the arguments on right to work have been out there for a long time like illegal immigration, he could suddenly change his mind based on new information he didn’t have before.

I shouldn’t worry I suppose; perhaps on this issue, this time he said what he means... people change; so they say, look how not many years ago you could find some democrat politicians that were Pro-Right to Work but you’d be very hard pressed to find even one who would say so now.”

That goes without saying.

Walker was just horsin' around when he put up with this.

And if anyone else has any "mockery" to unload, they should educate themselves and watch this.

That is, if they really want to know.

Meanwhile, down in Missouri, Governor Nixon ( Dem), just vetoed RTW. Republicans have a Super Majority in both House and Senate but cannot seem to garner sufficient numbers to override Governor Nixons veto. They seemingly are afraid to offend the unions. They are delusional if they think unions will ever support them because of their anti-RTW vote.

The Kansas City, Kansas area says Thank You Governor Nixon for those jobs that keep leaving Missouri for the Right to Work State of Kansas.

Oh BTW, they still represent the states, they’re just not appointed by a bunch of jag-off politicians, which is what you meant. Do you think state legislators were conservative in the 30’s? If so, I have a bridge to sell you.
