Connecticuts Democratic leaders were willing Thursday to make minor changes to the business taxes that prompted some major employers to threaten to leave the state, but said they wont roll the taxes back and expressed doubt that any of the firms would move. [ ]
The plan includes numerous business tax changes, including higher taxes on computer and data processing services, limits on tax credits, limits on when losses can be reported, and how business income is reported.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of General Electric Co., sent an email to employees Thursday, saying he has assembled an exploratory team to review the companys options for relocating from its Fairfield headquarters to another state with a more pro-business environment. About 800 people work at the site.
Immelt cited significant and retroactive tax increases for businesses.

Can you envision the GE Tower in Houston?
They would call it Bless Obama Towers probably
Not with the current mayor, no.
Why yes. Yes I can.
Had lived in CT most of my life.
State and local politics bewildered and aggrevated the hell out of me, as I watched the state stagnate and decline in the 1990’s thru present.
Moved out and have never been happier.
I agree with what Bill Buckley said to our Hartford CT audience some 20 years ago.
When asked why CT never swung significantly conservative in the face of economic decline, he replied:
“I’ve come to the conclusion after observing Connecticut for many years, that it’s politically retarded”.
He brought the house down.
Eff you CT, and your g0dd@mned socialist liberal parasites that have bleed dry and destroyed a formerly great state.
Let's tax them more, than say it has nothing to do with taxes when they leave. Idiot.
Tell the demorats to take their tax hikes and shove it.
Move operations out of state and be done with these leeches who never learn. Let the “illegals” make up the difference. Jerkwads.
Immelt?????
Is his nose out of Obama’s dark place?
Immelt is one of those who got the country where it is.....or maybe now he’s gonna repatriate all those GE dollars and pay taxes on the earnings......
He may even reform himself and vote for a moderate....a moderate Hillary, that is, after realizing his mistake with radical Obama!
Immelt is a real schmuck. He was on Obamas jobs committee while he builds all his new plants in China and India. Idiot
Oh just wait and see, stupid Rats.
And when the businesses move they'll never mention it again. it happened in Maryland about 5 years ago.
Maryland, a Democrat run police state, decided to pass a surtax (6%) on people whose income exceeded a million dollars. When asked about it at the time, the comptroller of Maryland smirked and said they'll just have to grin and bear it. (a$$hole). The Baltimore Sun editors were of course all for the tax
Well guess what? The year prior to the tax being implemented there were 3000 people in the state who made over $1mil. It was supposed to raise $180 million for the greedy corrupt politicians in Annapolis to squander and line their pockets with.
The year it was implemented there were 1000 people in the state who made over $1mil. Where did they go? Florida, Texas, etc. would be my guess, but lets look at the net result. I believe the MD state income tax rate at the time was 5.75%, so prior to the surtax the greedy robbers in MD were getting $162.5 million from people making over $1mil. After the surtax they got 11.75% of the income of 1000 people or $117.5 million. This is of course a conservative estimate, since those 3000 made OVER 1 million, so the difference is greater that what I show. So the democratic thieves in Annapolis rather than getting an extra $180 million to buy votes and line their pockets with, LOST $45 million that stayed in the pockets of those who earned it.
Of course the local fish wrapper did NOT write this in any editorial that I've heard of.
Funny how democrats (and republicans too for that matter) never learn from their mistakes. When shown absolute proof that what they're doing is the wrong thing they NEVER EVER say "Oh I guess we were wrong." Nope what they say is "We just didn't go far enough." and if they take any action at all it will be to double down on their stupidity.
The two greatest advantages of government work are:
I'm starting to think the same thing.
The fact that GE is one of the largest transnationals minimizes the importance of which US state GE is located. The states are competing for the left-overs.
Plus the fact that federal and state tax codes are riddled with loopholes means that they won't have to pay much in taxes.
Clintons had 400 of the house and senate fbi files illegally during their last occupation of the white house. They blackmailed everyone, which was obvious from the actions of the opposition, notably Hastert.
He’s just waiting for Obama to bail him out with respect to Malloy, who evidently didn’t get the memo.
On the other hand, some of the PEOPLE who work at GE have lush compensation packages which the drooling Democrats envy.
Texas has no personal income tax.
Jus’ sayin’...
