Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar built their custom home with a number of measures that physically separate their sons - including molester Josh - from their daughters, Daily Mail Online can reveal.
The couple, who have 19 children, moved into the sprawling 7,000-square-foot house they designed and helped to build in January 2006 - four years after their eldest son confessed to his sordid actions.
Strikingly, they built their daughters' shared bedroom at the opposite end of their home's second floor to their sons' room - with their master bedroom situated right in front of the girls' one, 'blocking' it.
It means that their sons - including Josh, before he moved out - have to walk past their parents' bedroom if they wish to access their sisters' room. They also have to walk past Michelle's office.
And the girls' and boys' rooms are not only located at polar ends of the second floor - they are also separated by a catwalk that stretches across the family's double-height living room and kitchen.

I so WANTED to “believe” the Duggars were what they present on their show. I wanted their “reality” to be the real deal...that they are self reliant, bible believing/living Christians. My daughter and my best friend (40 years different in their ages!) both loved the show. My daughter PLANNED a “Reception” (we had cupcakes!) because my almost 3yr old granddaughter loves seeing brides (she was flower girl in her Uncle&Aunts wedding).
I found the Duggars quirky, but inspirational. I did. But every now and then, even what I would see that got “past” the editors/production staff would kind of make my radar go off...but I would just shrug. I was not a “faithful” viewer...but I DID support them “here.”
Because I had watched the show, I felt I “knew” some of the kids involved in this. My perception of Josh—nerdy, bossy, given seemingly more “importance” in the family structure than Mom, Michelle. The girls (Jessa and Jill)...almost interchangeable, trying so hard to always be nice and cheerful. Hard working and respectful. Now I think their sister Jinger will be the one to “tell all.” Be it because she was given the “off” name, or just because of her natural spirit, I think (from what I’ve watched) that she will “break free.”
As for the parents, JimBob is an older version of Josh, with extra narcissism added in. Michelle, who I wanted to believe was this calm figure, unphased and super organized, now just seems brainwashed...and would someone get her some books to sit on!?! On the Kelly File, it looked like she was seated deliberately “low” so she could gaze lovingly upwards at JimBob. Creepy visual at best.
OMG!!! “Looks like” IS NOT THE SAME THING AS “intended to”.
Someone takes how something looks and draws their own conclusions for the reasons, the motives for why it looks as it does. We have descended into stupidity.
With as many kids as the Duggers have, I can think of plenty of reasons why they might design the home as they did, like - with mom and dad’s room in the middle, it makes for equal access by mom and dad to either the boys or the girls, and equal access to mom and dad for the the girls or the boys, and with lots of tiny tots that would be helpful; with so many boys and girls you can bet there is a “boys” bathroom and and “girls” bathroom, and with 19 kids and their bedrooms and bathrooms NOT next to each other, getting-up-in-the-morning traffic will be a hell of a lot easier; and I could go on.
When people hate people like the Duggers they just have to find justification to continue that hate, no matter what.
I think Rick Santorum has distanced himself too.

The police report graded the action Josh took with the five year old as a worse felony than they others. Her testimony is that her pants (worn under her dress) and underwear were removed and he touched her breasts, bottom and “pee-pee holder.”

Oh those were fun times I got to tell ya! Fireside roasts...swimming in the creek...hiking throughout nearby woods. We had a ball! Just on occasion I'd have to smack one of them for trying to get “fresh”....they got the message, but we all laughed just the same.
As I mentioned before...there’s a lot of differences in the stories being told about this affair... from if or not there was touching, all the way to he actually molested fully the youngest.
If I had an question it would be what did they say to their son as he approached “coming of age”......most parents have “the talk”. I tend to lean toward that ball might have been dropped sufficient to prepare their son for the physical nature of what’s generally the norm for young teenagers.
The parents aren’t exactly the brightest bulb in the room when it comes to measuring what they say and do.
As do I. This thread is certainly bringing out the true colors of a lot of folks. Just sad, and goes to reason I seldom do anything more than read the articles here anymore.

This is ludicrous. So many of the priest pedophiles tried this defense...the kid was asleep so it wasn’t really molestation.

I wouldn’t go that far. As I’ve stated on another thread, families with this many kids, with a mom who’s perpetually pregnant (and tired), can only keep track of so much and so many kids before things start to drift. Such families and religious lifestyles are easy prey for someone with pedophilic tendencies. For the same reason bank robbers rob banks.
I want to know if the trooper had ‘access’ to the older boys under the guise of fishing trips, camping trips, etc where they may have been exposed to highly inappropriate material and then acted out on that material...
