D.C. judge grants retrial in 2001 killing of intern Chandra Levy

A D.C. judge on Thursday granted a new trial to the man convicted of killing federal intern Chandra Levy in 2001, but prosecutors face steep challenges after acceding to the defense request to retry the case, attorneys and legal experts said.

D.C. Superior Court Judge Gerald I. Fisher, who presided over the 2010 trial that sentenced Ingmar Guandique, 34, to 60 years in prison, set aside the verdict and agreed to bring the case before a new judge and jury.

“Unless there is something else to be said, I would grant the motion for a new trial,” Fisher said in a brief hearing attended by Guandique, who was dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit.

A shame no one has cut his throat in prison.

Another odd case from the era of odd deaths in Washington.

Let's recall Vince Foster, Adm. Boorda, Caitlyn Mahoney, Asian INS agent who was kidnapped from DuPont Circle, Georgetown grad student beaten to death while walking home late, some government lady found dead at her desk, some lady who mysteriously burned to death in her car while it was in the garage and on and on and on.

There is some evidence the guy was framed.

BTW Chandra was an intern with the Bureau of Prisons when McVeigh was imprisoned and executed. And her congresslover was on a high security committee.

She knew too much. This guy didn't kill her.

IIRC, the search was stopped just before the search party reached the area where she was found because there were two called in "tips" which lead in another direction which proved to be false. And they never went back to that area to search further.

Only one person with a motive....Gary Condit.

“There is some evidence the guy was framed.”

Not framed per se. If I were making up the conspiracy, I would allege that the perp took the fall with an agreement of out in 10 with remuneration.

Don’t be surprised with a not guilty verdict in next trial, and a quick civil settlement for a low 7 digit.

That would require the least amount of people in the know, thus the smartest way to go.

The above is all speculative fiction and for entertainment purposes only.

Does this new trial put Gary Conditit in jeopardy?
Seems like it does unless the fix is in.

I’m not really interested in conspiracy theories.

But even if he was framed for this, he’s a violent illegal who deserves to be sent to hell.

The Gary Condit/Chandra Levy story was the top headline in the days before the September 11 attacks.

Events that followed bumped it off the media radar and public consciousness.

The fix was in a long time ago.

Remember...Gary was the first to notify the FBI...Now why would a Congressman do that?

They protected him all the way. I'll bet there's a dozen people that KNOW that Gary was responsible for her death. It's called the buddy system.

I hope investigators take a longer, harder, look at former congress-criminal Gary Condit than has previously been done. I still think that worthless a—hole had something to do with her murder.

This seems to be really convenient timing. As I recall Condit and Kasich were buds in Congress when this occurred. There was talk of these two frequenting certain nefarious “clubs” in Washington at the time. Condit resigned and Kasich hightailed it back to Ohio and became Governor.

Seems to be a hole card being played right now. Tin foil on.

Blast from the past. This is the first topic we conversed about while trolling the Democratic Talk Radio message board about 14 years ago.

Why did this guy think he was so damned handsome? As did Weiner. What’s wrong with these people?
