ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) For the first time ever, scientists have linked prescription drugs that affect the central nervous system to an increased risk of committing a homicide.
European researchers found that people who were taking a class of tranquilizers called benzodiazpines were more likely to kill someone than those who were not taking these medicines, reports Live Science.

True, the study doesn’t “prove” anything. If I could find the study, I’d read it and determine if it even indicates anything significant.
Are you suggesting there’s a conspiracy forming to silence these authors? Where is your “proof” of that?
Anti-inflammatories (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, et. al.) increase the tendency to commit homicide by 200%.
Yeah, right.
The study showed that those of us on NSAIDs are 200% more likely to commit homicide, those on opioids check in at 92% more likely, and those on anti-depressants (linked to every mass shooting in recent memory it seems) had only a minor increase, not even worthy of a percentage.
That and a tiny sample size of less than a thousand subjects in a rather homogenous location suggests something less than ‘you can take this study to the bank.’
JMO.
LOL
How long before that becomes an excuse for murder?
I think that every time a small-sample poll comes out, but politicians base their careers on such things.
It doesn't matter. A trillion dollars in pharmaceuticals says the study is irrelevant.
So, the study is irrelevant.
Because one thing is certain - pharmaceutical companies would be the first to admit if they were hurting anyone, and you can take that to the bank.
Benzos can be very bad news. I had a high-stress job where I was throwing up from stress every day when I knew a higher-up would be coming through and nothing was ever good enough.
Doctor gave me some Xanax, which cured my throwing up, but also put holes in my memory like a shotgun going off.
Dropped the job with the insane narcissist and then doctor with the pills and feel much much better.
All you need to know about this bogus “science” is that taking ibuprofen increased the chances of committing homicide by 200%.
Just read the whole article and form your own opinion.
Taking anti-inflamatory pain killers (Aleve, ibuprofen etc.) increased the chances of committing homicide by 200%.
In other words, the study isn't worth sh!@t.
What do you think has been behind the mass shootings we have seen for years now? What's behind the Sandy Hook shootings? Was it Adam Lanza's dependence on these "psychotropics"? Check out, for example:
This is a perfectly valid statement just as the study was perfectly valid but as in my statement they seem to have cause and effect turned around.
You win. I cannot argue with your brand of reasoning.
People who chew tobacco are far more likely to die in motorcycle accidents. Obviously chewing tobacco causes motorcycle accidents.
Take off the blindfold. You need to review the suicides and mass shootings in which these drugs figure, although the manufacturers and their psychiatrist shills have been managing to suppress the bad news and consequent exposure of conflicting interests of the parties inflicting this epidemic of so-called "psychotropic" chemicals on their gullible audiences, IMHO.
Do the homework, then come back with a verifiable report, OK?
Being finally make aware of this, I have personal knowledge of several people whose lives have been really messed up by this class of antidepressant/antianxiety classed drugs.
Gee. Ya think?
The guy was on a bunch of anti depressants when he robbed a jewelry store for really no apparent reason.
Reardon charged with armed robbery
But I suppose some would say that he was predisposed to committing armed robberies. I wouldn't.
I was told for many years, by countless statistical studies that saturated fat "caused" heart disease. Well, as it turns out, recent studies show that there is no causation and indeed no correlation between saturated fat and heart disease. You may know some people who ate a lot of bacon and got heart attacks, but this is what is called "anecdotal" and while great for exciting headlines is not reliable in forming a scientific hypothesis.
I am not convinced by this statistical study that the drugs in question have any causative role in the commission of murder. They may or may not. But that is yet to be proven.
I'll keep my blindfold of scientific skepticism firmly in place, thank you.
Depression/Relaxation of the CNS is essentially a credit card withdrawal of endorphins/serotonin form your brain’s chemical bank that must be repaid with Mr. Chemical Balance says so.
In addition, during the drugged phase, the brain recognizes that it is slow and stupid and tries to balance by releasing adrenaline or quickly re-taking up the happy chemicals. So it’s possible that even while flush with happy-numby drugs, you soon become flush also with killy-angry chemicals sent to balance the situation. In some cases they neutralize each other - as an acid neutralizes a base. BUT in not all cases do they neutralize eacher.
In some cases, you just have a lot of happy-numby mixed with killy-angry. When one is agressive but can’t feel much, that is when the sloppy-bellicose, or loosey-pugnacious comes out -> as when a drunk gets angry. This can happen with benzo’s, booze, and even opiate pain killers during phases of them kicking in and the body’s attempt to balance them with non-complimentary chemicals, and then comes withdrawal. Withdrawal is neither happy-numby nor killy-angry. Withdrawal is depressy-nervous.
So, There is a phase with all downers, pain killers, opiates, benzo’s and booze, where you are happy-killy. Different biochemical make ups are more or less prone to this phase either more often or more strongly or both.
The point is that while it may seem counterintuitive, happy and killy can coexist because the body’s attempt to bring back its mental and physical acuity after being shot up with dope results not in a canceling affect as with acid and alkaline or hot cooled with cold, but with a hyped upedness coupled with numbness, or happy-go-killiness.
I think Fast & Furious was a PLOT by Team Zero to flood Mexican drug cartels with nasty weapons SO AS TO DRIVE THE MASSES NORTH TO CALIFORNIA, ARIZONA AND TEXAS TO ESCAPE THE VIOLENCE. Notice he found other ways to get Mexicans and Central and South Americans onto trains for shipment to the U.S., anyway.
What about alcoholics? Peacemakers, are they?
