An investment banker jumped to his death from the window of his million-dollar apartment in the Financial District on Thursday, sources and authorities said.
The 29-year-old man plunged from the 24th floor of the luxury Ocean apartment building at 1 West St. at about 10:40 a.m. and landed on a guardrail near the northbound Battery Park Underpass, narrowly missing a black SUV.

Sources said the young banker had made several attempts to kill himself earlier in the morning, including cutting his wrists, before making the plunge.
The man whom police did not immediately identify was from a wealthy family in Westchester County, sources said.
He had apparently become very successful on his own. He owned his apartment in the 36-story Ocean complex, which overlooks The Battery and New York Harbor, and had just returned from a vacation in the Bahamas, sources said.

Thanks.
What is so mysterious about them? People who gamble with millions and billions of dollars commit suicide all the time. It’s not exactly a “low stress” line of work.
Money can actually increase risk of suicide in the chemically depressed. And bankers are probably the wealthiest profession in the nation.
Poor people who think money will someday make them happy will see a goal to stay in the game and try.
Rich people who seemingly already have “everything” and still never feel happy due to brain chemistry can be more likely to suicide. They already have it all at the snap of a finger and don’t see anything out there that will make them happy
So, another one who had sold his soul to the oligarchy but had second thoughts and was not allowed to expose the devils at the heart of America’s globalist oligarchy. What’s the count up to now? ... Use to be we would call the cabal all smoke and mirrors, but now it’s all chemicals and electromagnetic waves. ‘They’ 9the dead souls who work eagerly for these devils, doing their bidding) can elicit just about any behavior they want from an individual, including suicide.
Condolences to you and prayers for your friend.
I’ve been wondering if a lot of these deaths don’t involve extremely hard-working, high-functioning genius-types who have great minds for their complex, competitive jobs but maybe lack some stability and just simple living and coping skills.
giving Steely Dan credit ...
Thank you for the clarification. I have been wondering about the ‘banker deaths’....if there really is something going on. I appreciate knowing that some of the suicides have nothing to do with our current state of affairs in the USA. My sympathies to you for the loss of your friend.
It must have been devastating news..........

Actually, it was quite rare. There was one overleveraged investor who committed suicide in this manner, and he became a symbol of Wall Street. People often commit suicide when depressed about money, and other aspects of their lives, but this does not necessarily portend a trend.
No, everything is just fine. Yea right.
The Clintons are working their way through Wall Street, and a few banks. The park benches were full.
Sure you can. You just can't do anything about it.
Did he lose his nail gun?
That’s not what I said or meant. I was just refuting a common myth about the depression.
My grandparents are both gone now, so I can’t get anything from them to rebut you. But they were clear to me about it being a common occurrence.
