Today, Sweden is not in a position to crush Russia with military means. That is true. On the other hand, Sweden has a far better capacity for large-scale production of weaponry. This is something often overlooked. Sweden is home to some of the major automotive plants on the continent and could easily flood Russia with tanks as soon as the Russian air farce has been done away with.

The French sent their forces to Mali, so they’re still capable of kicking ass. The British sent their forces recently in Afghanistan and Iraq.

For what it's worth, the Armed Forces of USA was very small in 1940. Even if the British military is small, they still have battle tested veterans in their civilian population.

The British could always recall their veterans and have them return to duty in a national emergency.

Sweden and Finland also count on us to protect them, and are starting to become scared enough of Russia, to think about joining NATO.
