Also Putin might have a point because it was Obama who was against him hosting the Olympics because of his stance of homosexuality and this is another way to get to Putin.

FIFA has been corrupt for s long and he gets his votes I bet as I have not looked from Africa where the world cup was a massive flop and Asia which was another flop and now Qatar is in on it.

“Problem though is that there is a perception that the arrests of those FIFA officals is being done because the USA LOST the bid to HOST either 2018 or 2022.”

A bid that Bill Clinton and Several “Friends of Bill” were up to their neck in, and stood to make HUGE MONEY from.

Some goof on the radio this morning asked whether there would be any Blatter Leaks coming from the DOJ.

You ask a very good question. The reality is that, most Americans, and I included, do not care about either FIFA or of soccer, unless one is from another country. This is just a distraction to the trouble the Dems are in.

“Next up is the vote to kick Israel out of FIFA, for the horrible crime of being Jewish, and politically-incorrect.”

Question here is if they vote to kick Israel out of FIFA, will the US leave FIFA?

This seems a little like Watergate in that, ok maybe they did something they shouldn’t, but everyone else was and had been for a long time doing exactly the same thing. So they nab these people not really for doing the same misdeed that had been standard for years, but for political reasons. Obama wants to take the 2018 World Cup away from Russia. That is how it looks to me.

I am not saying wrongs do not need to be set right. I am saying that if they investigate this one, lets investigate all the past ones, too. While we are at it let’s investigate all of these big sporting events. I’ll be there is a ton of dirt under those rugs.

At a certain point when wrong practice has become standard, it ceases to be justice to just punish the last guilty party. Simply expose it and turn it around for the future. It is soccer after all. This is not the biggest issue in the world.

Why should the U.S. DOJ waste time and our money on this BS? FIFA isn’t a U.S. organization and has its offices in Switzerland. Makes about as much sense as going after OPEC for price fixing. Most Americans don’t give a rat’s posterior about FIFA or soccar for that matter.

It's an organized crime syndicate operating in part in the U.S. and using U.S banks in a wire fraud an money laundering scheme. For that alone, regardless of the subject of their business, the DoJ should be involved. And frankly, the asset seizures and fines will more than pay for the costs.

The initial indictments concerned mostly CONCACAF officials, whose offices are in Miami (previously New York), not Switzerland. The Swiss are conducting their own investigation of the FIFA corporate body.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. If followed up, the same players are almost certainly involved with the IOC as well.

Self-correction:

“Are you sure that the general fanship of FIFA is cheering this on” ?

It’s bigger in the U.S. than you might think. This is where the biggest growth - especially in terms of $$$ - of the sport is. It’s why NBC and Fox have spent buckets of money for broadcast rights and why the largest club teams (Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, etc.) have entire departments dedicated to U.S. marketing and merchandising.

Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of meddling outside its jurisdiction by arresting officials from Fifa.

“This is yet another blatant attempt [by the United States] to extend its jurisdiction to other states,” the Russian president said on Thursday.

Putin added that the arrests were a “clear attempt” to prevent the re-election of Sepp Blatter as Fifa president and that the Swiss had Russia’s backing.

“It looks very strange, the arrests are carried out on the request of the USA side,” he said. “They are accused of corruption – who is? International officials. I suppose that someone broke some rules, I don’t know. But definitely, it’s got nothing to do with the USA. Those officials are not US citizens. If something happened it was not in the US and it’s nothing to do with them.

The general fanship of soccer is cheering this on. FIFA is seen as a necessary evil by most of the world. As in, the mobster you've got to do business with to keep your shop safe.

But nobody actually likes FIFA, except the people directly profiting from it.

Is it because we lost the bid? I am unclear as to why we care. We have ISIS and friends burning, beheading, raping, etc.... and we are spending our time and resources policing soccer?

True, but the MSM shove it down our throats, and government schools force our kids to play it.

IMO soccer is boring to watch. It may be fun to play. I can’t say. But it is seriously boring to watch. You can nape for a couple of hours, wake up and NOTHING has happened.

It's a good thing basketball players never flop. Or how wide receivers are always interfered with every time they fail to make a catch. I mean, it'd be horrible if they were trying to work the officials to get a call to go their way.

(For the record, I hate players who "dive" and they should be - and are - punished for it when they're caught.)

Anything being carried out by this DOJ has to be viewed with some suspicion. Yes, there may well be some criminal acitivity going on here, but this could also be some sort of shakedown by the Obama crime syndicate (probably a little of both).
