On the Flyertalk website someone speculated that they lost one engine and the crew tried to restart the wrong engine, causing both to be shut down. I believe this is what caused the crash of the Taiwan airplane that we saw on video narrowly missing a bridge. Pretty scary if true.

I think the 13000 ft dive would be a clue too....

I’d limit that to metal Boeings.

Directional EMP test ?The damage from an EMP is permanent. There would have been no restart.

Fershure....years ago, we were on a flight from Tokyo to Singapore and hit some sort of atmospheric event where the plane just “dropped” for five or six seconds....everyone aboard noted it.

Could be a similar incident to those that purchased
diesel fuel for their cars, and acquired car hiccups.
From flameout at 39000, to regaining powered flight,
might have some ride, but i congratulate the crew.

lost power mid-flight on both of its Rolls-Royce engines. Which is why I always try and make my air travel on single engine airplanes. With two, you are twice as likely to lose an engine.

There were 182 passengers and 12 crew members on board the airliner. No injuries were reported.
While no injuries were reported the local underwear cleaning people got rich.

Singapore Airlines has some of the best maintenance in the industry.Yes, but how are their seat cleaning people?
To: The_Republic_Of_Maine
There aren’t any seats left to clean as they all became suppositories.

I wonder if the passengers understood what was happening. It would be a serious moment when the engines stopped.
Defiantly get everyone's attention

Volcanic activity in the region? I remember that happened a few years ago when a plane ingested fine particles from an eruption.

Two blondes were flying to Miami from Cleveland.
Fifteen minutes into the flight, the captain announced, “One of the engines has failed and the flight will be an hour longer. But don’t worry we have three engines left.”
Thirty minutes later, the captain announced, “One more engine has failed and the flight will be two hours longer. But don’t worry we have two engines left.”
An hour later the capain announced, “One more engine has failed and the flight will be three hours longer. But don’t worry we have one engine left.”
One blonde looked at the other the other blonde and said, “If we lose one more engine, we’ll be up here all day.”

That happened years ago to a British Airways 747 that had unknowingly flown through fine particles of volcanic ash...which caused the engines to freeze up.I read that people were kneeling in the aisle praying as the plane lost altitude.

Pity the next passengers....
