Do you remember back in the 2008 election when Barack Obama derisively said:
"... and you go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, like a lot of small towns in the midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothings replaced them. And theyve gone through the Clinton admininistration and the Bush administration and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate and they have not. So its not surprising then that they get bitter and they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who arent like them or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment in order to explain their frustrations."
So lets change just two words and see what happens:
"... and you go into some of these small towns in Iraq, like a lot of small towns in the Mideast, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothings replaced them.
I changed two words. But can you ever imagine that Obama would utter those same sentences with those two words changed?
Ha! That’s pretty insightful.
Jobs for jihadis was touted by Harf
Dear scouter,
about 30-years ago I was enlisted in the Navy and worked a desk involved in MidEast/Mediterranean/NorthAfrican intelligence.
Those parts of the world dominated by Islam really did not have employment for 50% of the adult males in their populations. Those governments did not, and still do not want their populations to have meaningful lives outside of complete subservience to Islam.
It’s all about control and power; jobs have nothing to do with what is happening there now.
Sincerely, Satin Doll

hot lead for jihadis
death from above for jihadis

Agreed! Islam is not a religion. It is a political system for enslaving people. Yet, given the words he spoke about guns and religion in Pennsylvania and the Midwest, I can't imagine Obama ever displaying the same contempt for those who cling to guns and "religion" in the mideast.
True.
That part of the world is probably going to go down in nuclear flames because the people will not change. They value power and not freedom. And it is freedom which allows a person to make valuable choices that can change their lives.
Saul Alinsky.
bkmk
Yep. Two more words that do the same thing! It seems that for those who have eyes to see, it doesn’t take more than two words to explain Obama.
Isn’t in frightening that so many people can’t put two words together to see what’s going on?!
Also “illegal aliens.”
Both situations are unfolding just the way Obama wants them.
“Holy Koran” which he has said numerous times.
Even more so, I think he said Holy Quran
Well, we can get more succinct and describe him accurately in a single word.
Many of them.
Most, unprintable.
No kidding.
Obama wouldn't use the words "bitter clingers" in speaking of Muslim terrorists, but the whole idea that they're motivated by a lack of economic opportunities is right on his script. Remember Marie Harf and her root cause of terrorism is the lack of jobs comment?
What others have called attention to isn't the difference between how Obama talks about ISIS and how he talks about back country Americans who voted against him, but rather the similarity. And they find that offensive. Go here for more.
What's striking about the comment is how insincere it really is. Obama had plenty of time to do something about the conditions he complains about, but he hasn't done any more -- arguably he's done less -- than other presidents to improve things in rural Pennsylvania. Nor has he improved conditions in the Middle East.
Maybe politicians really can't "improve" things that much, but this talk about root causes that the other politicians have ignored is just so much insincere cant.
Yes.
