Over the last three months, the GOP's Iowa front-runner has become an incredible, shrinking presence on the campaign trail. Sure, he's still touring the country, introducing himself to voters, telling them how unafraid he was to stand up to the unions and liberal protesters he battled in Wisconsin, but he's also ducking out of uncontrolled situations, skipping questions from the press, and spending more time on small or private events, usually packed with friendly crowds. Last week, when he traveled to Israel — usually an occasion to invite reporters or hold a press conference — Walker held no press events. The same was true last month when he went to Europe. He skipped the press on a recent tour of the Mexico border, at a campaign stop in South Carolina, and even at a local chamber of commerce event in his home state of Wisconsin.....

...There’s a common feeling among Iowa GOP insiders that, as prominent Iowa social conservative Bob Vander Plaats put it to me, “his campaign intentionally put in the clutch,” on Walker’s meteoric rise, for two reasons: One, to manage his momentum going into 2016 and keep him from peaking too early. The other, to give the candidate time to prepare for the scrutiny that being a front-runner brings. .....

Update: Walker's campaign vigorously denies that he has been less accessible to the press, and sent along a list detailing a number of interviews he's given over the last two months, including with local reporters in Iowa and New Hampshire and with conservative outlets. The campaign did not respond to initial requests for comment regarding Walker's media availability.

If you think Walker is a liberal and tag him with the Obama label, you’re nuts. Love Cuz all you want, but I live in Wisconsin and know damn well what Walker is all about. He’s a conservative through and through. He’s governing well in a blue state where he’s lucky enough to have both legislatures in his camp. Since in office he’s kicked out government unions, forbidden tuition for illegals, reduced taxes, lifted all sorts of onerous restrictions on businesses and set the stage for Wisconsin to become a poster child for change in America. He and his family were threatened during the union votes and the recall election. He’s a tough guy and a conservative republican. So please don’t lecture me on whether the guy is an Obama liberal. One: He says he’s not for amnesty, his citizenship stance notwithstanding, but that’s not a new soundbite for Walker.
“Amnesty” means many things to many people;
to the Gang of Eight, for instance, the fact that illegals would be forced to meet certain requirements (paying back taxes, etc) before qualifying for citizenship meant that their plan wasn’t “amnesty.”
Walker’s been insisting for more than a year that he doesn’t support “amnesty” either
even though he does support citizenship and liberalizing the rules for legal immigration.

Two: He’s quick to tell Raddatz that he’ll lay out his own immigration plan eventually if he becomes a candidate,
which is his way of saying “don’t ask me anything too specific right now.”

Listening to him here, you would think he didn’t have firm opinions on immigration
yet beyond some basic principles like “secure the border.”
But that’s not so.
Watch him field a question on immigration from 2013 in the second clip below
and note what he says about border security at around 1:30.
For Walker, securing the border is less a matter of building a fence or hiring 10,000 new Border Patrol agents than it is about RELAXING THE RULES for legal admission to the U.S.
His view seems to be
that if you want to come here to work, IT SHOULD BE VERY EASY FOR YOU TO DO SO —
easy enough that you wouldn’t even think of crossing the border illegally, as the legal route would be just as simple.

So did John McCain. However he was for ‘comprehensive immigration reform’. One is just the PC form. Even Obama and Hillary are not for amnesty, if asked about the ‘A’ word.

Walker has flipped on amnesty, however he calls it, 3 times. The last flip, against it now, was right before deciding to run for president. After the GOP stabbed us in the back after the 2014 elections - running as conservatives then funding Obama’s executive amnesty, I wouldn’t trust these inconsistencies.

So your issue is amnesty, which you and I disagree on as it relates to Walker’s position. Walker has taken many others and implemented them. Please tell me what Cruz has been able to accomplish in the senate as a minority member? Or now as a majority member? I like Ted Cruz, but it’s easy to be a voice in the minority, it’s much tougher to lead with actions.
