Vatican appointee says gay sex can express Christ’s ‘self-gift’

ROME, May 19, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- Pope Francis has appointed radically liberal, pro-homosexual Dominican Father Timothy Radcliffe as a consultor for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

The Holy Father made the appointment on Saturday, according to Vatican Radio.

Father Radcliffe, an Englishman, author and speaker, was Master of the Dominican order from 1992 to 2001, and is an outspoken proponent of homosexuality.

"We must accompany [gay people] as they discern what this means, letting our images be stretched open,” he said in a 2006 religious education lecture in Los Angeles. “This means watching 'Brokeback Mountain,' reading gay novels, living with our gay friends and listening with them as they listen to the Lord."

In 2005, as the Vatican deliberated the admission of men with homosexual tendencies to study for the priesthood in the wake of the Church sex abuse scandal, Father Radcliffe said that homosexuality should not bar men from the priesthood, and rather, those who oppose it should be banned. ...

The Catholic Church IS the pope and the magisterium.

...as reported ignorantly by anti-Catholics. Forgive me, but I'll get my information about Catholicism from sources which haven't declared an avowed hatred for it. Thanks, anyway.

Yep... right on cue. The amateur crowd of anti-Catholics has arrived, complete with multi-colored quotes, mutual high-fives, immense cut-and-paste quotes (probably from the same hard drive on which they saved them as a text file in the later 1990’s), tired canards, hackneyed snarks, sexual innuendo (I really do wonder about that—maybe Ted Cruz could include anti-Catholics along with liberals, in pointing out their obsession with it), broken-record and logic-free responses to any challenges, and so very much more.

Sad.

The Pope, in appointing someone, is not endorsing everything that person does or says.

There is no excuse for appointing a person who holds such a blatantly un-Catholic position on marriage and homosexuality to any position.

To any RCC member:

If you accept Vatican 2,

you think your Church is alive.

If you reject Vatican 2,

you admit your Church is dead.

Yup.

Along with CCC 969 which teaches:
"969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."512

Contrast this blasphemy with:
John 14:6
"6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Hmmm. Mary provides salvation? Really?

or...

Acts 4:11-12:
"11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Funny that Mary's name isn't there since the RCC says she provides salvation...

or...

1 Timothy 2:5:
"5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,"

Yet, even though God's word SAYS plainly -- from God himself in Christ Jesus and support by Paul's inspiration though the Holy Spirit, there is ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, the Roman Catholic Cult teaches that Mary is a "Mediatrix."

I wonder, what is it about the word "one" that Roman Catholics don't get?

And, finally:
Galatians 1:6-9
"6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed."

Sounds like Paul is talking about the Roman Catholic Church! It teaches a false gospel -- it teaches that Catholics worship the same false god as Muslims -- that Mary is another mediator and provides salvation when Christ ALONE provides both...

Roman Catholicism? No thanks. I'll take Christianity any day of the week and twice on Sundays. :D

Exactly my response. Even if half of these are wrong, there are far too many remaining to still cause concern about the poop.

“Time to call upon the Holy Spirit to do some needed spring/summer cleaning of the Church!”

Yes and maybe we need to help the Holy Spirit. The Vatican has a website. The Pope evidently has written back to people. Maybe someone can get through and ask why the appointment was made. I was also upset to find out this priest has some sort of youth leadership authority. For those in good standing within the Church, maybe you could ask your parish priest about this.

I don’t think this thread needs to be dismissed as anti-Catholic as much as one that is bringing attention to a problem. (maybe some are anti-Catholic, but this Pope doesn’t help) Even Mother Teresa had doubts at some points in her life. This Pope is no Mother Teresa. I can’t believe with all the suffering in the world that Mother Teresa would have put global warming hoax as one of the major problems of the world to solve.

So what's the excuse for Pope Francis this time?

Don't know but Francis the first's devoted apologists will try for him. Here's the mindset:

“Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom. He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. I know very well that many defend themselves by boasting: “They are so corrupt, and work all manner of evil!” But God has commanded that, even if the priests, the pastors, and Christ-on-earth were incarnate devils, we be obedient and subject to them, not for their sakes, but for the sake of God, and out of obedience to Him.”

St. Catherine of Siena, SCS, p. 201-202, p. 222, (quoted in Apostolic Digest, by Michael Malone, Book 5: “The Book of Obedience”, Chapter 1: “There is No Salvation Without Personal Submission to the Pope”)

Here's another (same site):

Pope Saint Pius X

"Therefore, when we love the Pope, there are no discussions regarding what he orders or demands, or up to what point obedience must go, and in what things he is to be obeyed; when we love the Pope, we do not say that he has not spoken clearly enough, almost as if he were forced to repeat to the ear of each one the will clearly expressed so many times not only in person, but with letters and other public documents; we do not place his orders in doubt, adding the facile pretext of those unwilling to obey - that it is not the Pope who commands, but those who surround him; we do not limit the field in which he might and must exercise his authority; we do not set above the authority of the Pope that of other persons, however learned, who dissent from the Pope, who, even though learned, are not holy, because whoever is holy cannot dissent from the Pope."

Pope Saint Pius X teaches us clearly: "Love the Pope!" And how do we love the Pope? And why? Allocution Vi ringrazio to priests on the 50th anniversary of the Apostolic Union

“Now they invade to fragment the membership.”

The fact that this fragmentation can occur at all, indicates the scope of the problem.

The belief in Mary’s help is part of Catholicism as you say. You either believe that Mary can intercede with her son or you don’t. But putting someone in a position of authority who basically advocates the gay life style is not a belief of the Church. It is an aberration that can be corrected.

I’ll say it - Timmy the pervert is a heretic and needs excommunication post haste.

Seems Francis went the other way than excommunication. Instead he appointed him to a Vatican position. In lay terms that would be a promotion.

Is satan in control??- I can only pray that this is temporary

The advice of Saint Catherine of Sienna for Catholics today would be:

“Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom. He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. He’s just being misunderstood.

Even so, Catholics must obey the Pope.

Pope Saint Pius X teaches us clearly: "Love the Pope! "And how do we love the Pope? And why? Allocution Vi ringrazio to priests on the 50th anniversary of the Apostolic Union November 18, 1912

“This means watching 'Brokeback Mountain,' reading gay novels, living with our gay friends and listening with them as they listen to the Lord."

Listening to the Lord?

The Lord has been very clear and very consistent on His view of homosexuality, since the days of Sodom of Gomorrah in Genesis.

The problem is they refuse to listen and continue to sin.
