Thanks Kaslin. I should have known. I was giving this some thought along the way and suspected as much. Good to know.

If the decision is between helping this nation or hurting it, you can depend on the White House to choose hurting.

Since there are far fewer studies on the status of wild bee populations, activists can make any claims they like. As the NRDC’s Jennifer Sass said in November 2014, environmentalist groups can only “presume” that wild bees are in decline. But they sure know how to get ample press coverage for their presumption.

The decline in native bees (and it's real) is mostly due to non-native plants. Native bees don't make honey. They require pollen all spring and summer long. They're more picky about what plants they visit, in part because others produce toxins they can't tolerate. It's complicated. My work in this vein has focused on what it takes to establish and maintain the native plants they need (7MB pdf).

I’ve said this here on FR many times, and I said it again when this faux bee story got legs;

This ‘end of the bees, end of our food’ story was big news back in ‘73, more than 40 years ago.

Same words, same dire predictions, same everything, except the name of the pesticides that needed to be eliminated.

I didn’t believe it back then either.

Yep it is the same koolaid. I hate these people with everything I have.

They are repopulating the west with wolves and there are herds which will never recover. There is a caribou herd in British Columbia that is doomed.

They are suing the feds for wanting to allow some hunting of grizzlies at Yellowstone. The elk and moose cannot survive the current surplus of both grizzlies and the newly introduced grey wolf. All because they want to stop hunting.

They believe the myth that nature will balance itself and man are the worst species on earth. They lied about so many things that were later found to be incorrect by science.
