My husband is in his late 60s. has cancer, and has made noises about wanting to go to go do something like this rather than die in his bed. He’s a Vietnam vet of two voluntary tours and the toughest man (mentally, and formerly physically) I’ve ever known. Of course I haven’t taken him seriously, but in a couple of weeks when we find out whether his treatment bought him time or not, I expect to hear more about it from him. He says he’s not dying in bed and he’d just as soon leave the world a better place when he goes, by taking some of the bad guys with him.

Uncannily enough, my brother who is perfectly healthy and lives in another state has been making the same noises (he’s retired military, vet of Iraq and Afghanistan).

My goodness. What courageous men. I sincerely hope your husband’s treatment worked and you get good news. You must be very brave also. God bless all of you.

I understand your husband perfectly. Some friends and I make the same “noises.” And ....

Watch the movie Machinegun Preacher. Good movie.

Sounds like you married a good man. :-) I hope you and your husband receive good news from his doctors.
