Apparently ABC News standards have dropped since Geraldo Rivera used to work for them. Unlike George Stephanopolous -- who is currently still employed even after his $75,000 donation to the Clinton Foundation -- Rivera was axed when he made a mere $200 political contribution back in 1985.
Appearing on Fridays edition of FNCs Fox and Friends, Rivera told the cast I was fired by ABC News in 1985...the official reason given for my being fired in 1985 was a $200 donation I made to a non-partisan mayoral campaign.
Rivera did add that he was in a very contentious relationship with his then boss Roone Arledge and pointed out that is why Stephanopolous, perhaps, still has his job: I was at odds with ABC News management. George Stephanopoulos is the darling of ABC News management so they will treat him with kid gloves. They will try their best to protect and preserve him because he is very effective as a broadcaster.

Has Jerry never noticed the double standard?
I think he was fired because he’s stupid....
Geraldo should sue ABC for their obvious discrimination if they keep Georgie on the payroll.
Maybe ABC fired him because his donation was too small :)
Geraldo... I hate to be the one to tell you.. but.. that’s called “an excuse”.
They wanted to fire you, because.. you suck. They used that as an excuse.
I’ve got news for Jerry....they were looking for an excuse to can him.
well they should have hanged him but thats a different story.......
ABC was ran by people with better ethics back then. Now they are ran by Super Faggotry express, Disney. Ethics are passe.
and that to...lol
Garaldo didn’t give the proper hand salute.
The real question is why FOX put that pompous blowhard on the payroll.
fired for being an idiot who lies about where he was or if he is in a combat fire zone.
Well, Geraldo, being fired really depends on WHO you gave your donation to.
If you donate to a candidate or a cause that the ABC powers that be dislike, then you are toast. Freedom of expression does not exist in that company or many American companies for that matter.
Consider for instance the case of Internet pioneer, Javascript developer and Mozilla CEO, Brendan Eich.
He donated a mere $1,000 to California’s Proposition 8 which supports only traditional marriage. He did it QUIETLY with no fuss.
When the gay mafia found out, he was hounded out of his job, literally forced to quit because of this small donation.
Welcome to the club Senor Rivera.
It is curious, isn’t it?
Geraldo was finally seriously demoted by FOX, however, from a nightly 60 minutes to his newly minted status as a roving novelty.
He probably makes more money, but Geraldo is back at the bottom of the ladder with the newbies, as in starting over again. Ouch.
So what and who cares?
But the excuse is an excellent reason. Stepindogpoopalus has to go.
Foolish of Freepers to mock Geraldo at this time. No one in the MSM gives a crap about a Freeper’s point of view, but maybe they’ll give a tiny bit of credence to Geraldo’s experience.
Put Jerry back in the basement and keep him there.
