Sometimes politicians do things so inexplicable that it makes you wonder, well, just what the heck are they thinking?
Witness Jeb Bush's answers over the course of this week when asked whether, knowing what we know now, he would have authorized the war in Iraq begun by his brother, former president George W. Bush.
On Monday, Jeb seemed to mishear Fox News Channel's Megyn Kelly -- answering the Iraq question without understanding the all important "if you knew then what we know" caveat.
Okay, fine.
Seemingly embarking on a bit of necessary cleanup duty Tuesday, Jeb called into Sean Hannity's radio show to clarify that, yes, he had misunderstood the question. Hannity offered Jeb a second chance to get it right, asking him the same question the former Florida governor had misunderstood when Kelly asked it. "I dont know what that decision would have been," Bush responded. "Thats a hypothetical.
Um, what?
Then came Wednesday and a town hall in Reno, Nev., where Jeb was again asked the Iraq question. This time he went with: "So, going back in time and talking about hypotheticals -- what would have happened, what could have happened, I think, does a disservice for [the men and women who served in the conflict]."
-snip-
There's only one right answer to the question given how the American public views the war in Iraq. And that answer is "No, knowing what we know now, I would not have authorized the war." It's the answer Republicans hoping to be the "not Jeb" in the race immediately gave in the aftermath of his struggles to get it right, seeking to drive the contrast between themselves and the former Florida governor for undecided GOP voters.

Uh no, that is not what the American public views. Thats mostly how Bush haters and GOP haters like Cilizza view it.
KELLY: So, let me just ask you the question, knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion of Iraq?
CRUZ: Of course not, I mean, the entire predicate of the war against Iraq was the intelligence that showed they had weapons of mass destruction and that there was a real risk they might use them. Now, I would note, there was a bipartisan consensus, both republicans and democrats looking at that intelligence concluded it was a real threat. We now know that intelligence was false.
KELLY: Uh-mm.
CRUZ: And without that predicate, there’s no way we would have gone to war with Iraq, and we know that now.
Electable?
No, but neither was the most electable Romney.
Or the most electable McCain.
The RNC does not care if they win.
Their purpose is to prevent us from electing anyone who would stop the invasion/cheap labor importation/colonization.
Rubio will do if they can’t drag Bush over the line to the nomination.
Was it as bad a week as Terry Schiavo had every day
after Imperial Bush let her die without water?
The Jebster is unelectable.
He is trying to emulate Hitlery Clinton’s string of bad days.
I would highly doubt that Chris Cilizza (D) - Washington Post, would ever support Cruz.
Jeb was trying to play catch-up to Hillary, it appears.
Is Cruz a GOP hater or a Bush hater?
KELLY: So, let me just ask you the question, knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion of Iraq?
CRUZ: Of course not
However, the premise of the author is the same as the left since 2004+. They can't get off message for fear of being wrong.
WP decoder ring: “Jeb is dead. MSM, don’t bother trying to promote him”
The author is a RAT, of course. But it’s clear that Bush gave the wrong answer and Cruz and the others are giving the right answer.
Without being overly critical, that’s how I view it also.
I detested enough that Bush did. I didn’t detest him cleaning up Iraq.
Where I fault him with regard to Iraq, is him not making a pact with the new government to reimburse us for our military costs on their behalf.
There was not reason for us to eat $2.5 trillion dollars.

Called out Hillary several times (which I thought was because they wanted someone more liberal) and now helping us get rid of this potential nightmare.
What the heck, i’ll take it.
I think Jeb is dead after this week's debacle.
Decoder ring is right. The liberals are bailing on Jeb.
I should add that I don’t think the guy they picked to be president was a good choice. IMO< he was far to close to Iran. That didn’t sound like a good idea to me.
And that is fair.
Thank you.
