The real danger to kids this summer (it's not guns)

According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning is the leading cause of death for kids 1-4 years old and is the second-leading cause of unintentional deaths for kids 1-14 years old.

As many as 5,000 kids 14 years old and younger are hospitalized each year due to drowning-related incidents, 20 percent of whom suffer lifelong neurological disabilities.

Wow. And Mr. Obama has worked overtime to convince Americans that kids are being slaughtered with guns.

Well, seems like Uncle Ted is trying to help spread the word that the momunists and bloomin' idjits are flat out lying as usual to make their case. Comparing auto "ACCIDENT" numbers to firearm "EVERYTHING" numbers is such a blatant lie it's pretty disgusting. But sadly, there are enough IPOS/LPOS/SPOS/UPOS out there that'll buy it without a second glance. (Did we include ponds and lakes and rivers and streams in the number?)

The only lives that matter to the left are the lives of black thugs taken by police.

Maybe we could ban swimming pools and water parks and see if they can get even fatter.

Among the youngest kids, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death, and firearms are very low on the list.

As kids age, risk of drowning declines, and risk of accidental death due to firearms increases.

Why?

Because we teach our kids how to swim.

I read once that one of the main ways small children accidently drown is in 5 gallon buckets of water.

WTF?

Using the liberal logic...shouldn’t swimming pools be banned or at least licensed? Why doesn’t the rest of country just ban water like they have done on the left coast?

I’ve learned about “dry drowning” this year. It happens when the vocal chords seize shut after a near drowning or even just having water go down the wrong pipe. The odds of it are low, but it does happen.

One of my greatest fears, seeing one of my children face down in a pool.

I don't think the bucket drownings are a big number, in the scheme of things. This from CPSC Warns of Children Drowning in Bathtubs, referring to 1-4 year olds ...
Eighty-two percent of the victims were younger than the age of two and 81 percent of the incidents involved bathtubs or bath related products. After pools, bathtubs are the second leading location where young children drown. CPSC's analysis of the fatalities found that 92 percent of the incidents occurred in residential settings.

Of the reported fatalities, ... in 10 percent, the child was found in a product outside the home, such as decorative yard equipment or a bucket; and another 3 percent were found inside the home in a bucket/container or trash basket that was being used for cleaning.

I've seen that with my own son. Thankfully he is okay...got a belly full of water and was for all intents and purposes dead when he was pulled from the pool.

The liberal logic is that we can’t teach our kids gun safety, because some of them might turn into recreational shooters.

Which makes as much sense as saying we can’t teach our kids bicycle safety, because some of them might turn into recreational cyclists.

As prose, it's word-salad. As poetry, it doesn't rhyme or scan.

.......

Given that reasoning, no one should be allowed live because living is the root cause of death.

I’ll go with mam’s boyfriends as #1 for the younger ones and gangsta wannabees for the older kids. Little kids drowning is 100% the fault of inattentive parents.
