Senate GOP Reject Democrats’ Compromise Trade Deal

“That’s not acceptable,” Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) said.

The Senate Republican leadership has rejected a compromise bill floated by Senate Democrats, leaving a key trade bill at the center of the Obama administration’s political priorities at a standstill.

Senate Democrats had proposed a compromise on a trade bill earlier on Wednesday after blocking debate on fast-track authority for the president on Tuesday, which included a proposal to vote on a provision related to currency manipulation that would be included in a final bill, rather than all four bills the Democrats wanted included.

Republicans quickly rejected that offer, and instead went on the offensive against Democratic efforts to halt the Obama administration’s trade policy endeavors, which has already been dealt a massive set back.

“That’s not acceptable,” Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) said according to Politico. “We’re not willing to change that deal. Plus we’re not willing to let Democrats run the place. They seem to think that they’re still in the majority and that Sen. Reid is the majority leader. He is not.”

Again it seems like the GOP is playing games, trying to hang Obama's bad (SECRET) TPP bill around Obama's head, as if they're running against him next year. They (properly) refuse the compromise bill, but they also keep the TPP itself alive, without letting anyone know what's in it.

Dumb GOP. But I repeat myself.

I am glad I sat out Cornball in November 2014, but I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for his Democrat opponent.

People in KY truly think they have a statesman here; what does that tell us about the Kentuckians?

The Republicans can be very bold when they are taking a position that is left of the Democrats.

I think Congress should be abolished. They are worthless as far as representing us and the country. Just give zero all the power, and we can save millions and millions of dollars for wages and perks they suck up for being so useless. They all seem to think they are elected to serve the president - so just let him have it all and they can go home and find real jobs - if they are able.

Yes, you are basically right, but the problem first and foremost now is the uninformed Republican primary electorate.
