There will be no breathless stories about how left-wing extremists and obstructionists have hijacked the Democratic Party. No hand-wringing about the state of American politics now that congress has defied the will of the first black president. There will be no scary pieces on how a stubborn minority party is holding up bills that have proven to create jobs – both here and abroad. There’ll be no passionate speeches about the dangers of big-money interests buying democracy.
Remember these aren’t your parents’ Democrats. And when Democrats rebelled against Obama’s bipartisan trade initiative this week and voted to stop debate on a fast-track bill, we learned that the Senate is now run by Elizabeth Warren, who is not your average liberal.
Obama is correct. Warren’s arguments on trade don’t stand up to scrutiny. But they also stand well outside the traditional Democratic Party stance on free trade. According to a recent Wall Street Journal poll (though, admittedly, these polls often have as much to do with who is president as they do with strongly held ideological positions) Democrats are less likely today to be averse to trade than Republicans. Asked whether free trade between the U.S. and foreign countries helped or hurt the country, only 26 percent of Democrats said it has hurt, but 36 percent of Republicans — and 44 percent of Tea Partiers — believe trade has hurt the U.S.
So perhaps our future is anti-trade. But at this point, it’s far-fetched, to say the least, to believe that Warren or Sherrod Brown rallied their party to shut down the TPP because of a profound concern about transparency or executive abuse.

i find it enlightening that POLITICIANS seem to be able to enrich themselves (with things like cronykickbacks to failed companies and insider trading) but JUST CANT SEEM TO UNLEASH CAPITALISM to create jobs. The pols let us manufacturing go offshore and loose 9 million good paying manufacturing jobs... and resorts to bs like SHOVEL READY and bashing critics.... BUT JUST CANT PRIME THE PUMP ON NEW JOBS.... DO THE FOREIGN CONTRIBUTIONS TO YOU KNOW WHAT “CHARITY” AND SIMILAR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AMERIKA BEING SOLD OUT TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. It is because we have Milquetoast representatives of our party who will not fight, such as George Herbert Walker Bush, who couldn't wait to make deals with Democrats.
Instead of working hard to destroy Democrats in positions of influence such as the Colleges and the Media, Moderate Republicans simply try to make a deal with them.
Because George HW Bush made a deal with Democrats, we got Bill Clinton, and the left's agenda advanced. Because we didn't work to root out and destroy left wing kooks in Academia and Media, we got Barack Obama, and the left's agenda advanced.
We should have been pursuing a scorched earth, destroy individuals and institutions policy, (McCarthy was right!) rather than showing them respect and trying to make deals with them.
We didn't stop the sowing of the wind, and now we are reaping the whirlwind. The Democrat party has now reached the pinnacle of it's evolution. It is now a collection of Nuts, Kooks, Thieves, Perverts, Liars, Bums, and Ignorant and brainwashed people.
In theory, there is a difference between a criminal and a commie, but in practice there isn't.
