I don’t know about the headline, but the meat of the story discloses it is discussing two separate trains, and does not connect the projectile receiving train (a commuter train to Trenton, NJ) with the train that derailed in Philadelphia.

It it me, or does the headline seem to imply two separate trains? You're right. It's a poorly written headline. The article is a bit clearer. The train hit by the projectile was NOT the train that derailed.
Nevertheless, it's an odd coincidence that two trains would have trouble like this on the same day. And it's worth noting that both trains were operating in the same area. So...

It it me, or does the headline seem to imply two separate trains?It does, and the article confirms. A local(?) commuter train was hit by a projectile about 20 minutes before the AMTRAK train derailed. They were also a few miles apart with regard to each incident.

Read it and be baffled. ‘A’ train was hit by a projectile (bullet, RPG, birdshirt?) about twenty minutes before crash. How relevant is this, especially when ( from what I can understand from this crap one is going south and one is going north?).
