Apparently, the answer is yes:
"Cuba has eased its persecution of religion in the last 23 years, but there have been few overtures suggesting the countrys executive office might be finding its faith.
"That changed Sunday when President Raul Castro said the teachings of Pope Francis had persuaded him not only to take a softer line on religion, but perhaps to return to the Catholic Church and begin worshipping again as he once did, growing up in Jesuit schools."
Now, you could interpret that to mean that Raul Castro has suddenly seen the light and decided that marxism is not his cup of tea, but somehow I doubt thats the case. Hes no better than his older brother and previous communist dictator Fidel; they share the same radical ideology and have, together, changed Cuba into one of the most totalitarian nations on earth, where religious people are persecuted and those with different opinions are arrested, locked up in prison camps, tortured and even killed.
So why, then, would Raul consider rejoining the Catholic Church? The answer, I believe, can be found in Pope Francis obvious marxist leanings...

Well let’s consider the possibilities:
A) Raul has changed his views to move closer to Catholicism
B) Catholicism has changed to move closer to Raul’s views
C) They both moved closer together and are meeting somewhere in the middle
D) Raul is lying and playing some kind of con game
Option D seems most likely to me, knowing what I know about Castro and the Catholic church.
Pope Che.
The Church is for sinners, as the Saints have no need.
Everybody calm down. Talk is cheap. Raul is not coming back to the Church. He’s just babbling. What he said is just the sort of unconsidered gibberish that’s uttered when one is in an awkward situation and wishes to make pleasant noises. “Oh, Mr. Pope, I’m your biggest fan. We simply must have lunch together some time.”
Pope Francis is not a Marxist. He’s just a ninny who thinks he knows how to deal with tough guys.
That’s exactly what I’ve been wondering lately. How did the communists get Pope Benedict to step down?
Actually, that would be Utilitarianism, not Christianity.
Two words: Vatican Bank.
I don’t get it. Are you saying the Vatican bank run by communists?
no, quite the opposite. I’m saying they had something on the bank and tied it to the pope, or people very close to him. Francis came in and one of the first things he did was move to clean up the Vatican bank.
How does a Jesuit priest who lives simply and takes public transport to his diocesan post in Buenos Aires know about Juan Zarate? Maybe he read his book:

Considered in toto, I consider cleaning up the Vatican Bank a good thing. There were some questionable practices going on:

But I’m also never in favor of putting leftists anywhere near a pot of money. Might as well let Bill Clinton take your daughter to the prom.
Oh I see. Thanks for explaining that to me.
I wish the bank woul help the persecuted Christians in ME and Africa relocate to safety. Oh well.
