Rep. Pompeo: House Will Fix Senate's 'Blank Check' for Iran (Video)

The Senate signed a "blank check" when it overwhelmingly endorsed the emerging Iran nuclear deal last week, and Rep. Mike Pompeo thinks the House can do better, he tells Newsmax TV.

"We can do a much more robust piece of legislation," Pompeo, a Kansas Republican, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"[One] that really does, in fact, prevent the administration from signing for a deal which lifts . . . sanctions without any evidence that Iran has actually adhered to anything that they've agreed to.

"That's what perplexes me . . . They've now signed a blank check . . . that can only bring harm to the American people."

Last Thursday, the Senate passed legislation to allow Congress to review the nuclear deal now being hammered out with Iran. The measure, which passed by a vote of 98-1, now goes to the Republican-led House.

House Speaker John Boehner has said Congress should have a chance to block any agreement that President Barack Obama's administration reaches with the Islamic Republic.

Pompeo, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Select Committee on Benghazi, has pooh-poohed the deal from the get-go.

"The Iranians have, in fact, been intent on developing the capacity and creating space so that they can openly achieve not just a nuclear weapon but a nuclear arsenal," he said.

"It has been this administration's actions that have created the space for them to continue their march towards that, and now they're headed towards a deal which will likely not just pave the road but accelerate their trajectory towards achieving that Iranian goal."

May 18, 2008: Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us. ...they spend 1/100th of what we spend on the military. I mean, if Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Pompeo voted for Boehnor as speaker. I called and wrote about not doing that.

He can be a squish when it comes down to the wire.

I voted Tiahrt in the primaries.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) was the only senator to oppose the bill... Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) was absent for the vote. . . . Cruz was joined in voting against ending debate by fellow GOP Sens. Charles Grassley (Iowa), Tom Cotton (Ark.), Jerry Moran (Kansas), Mike Lee (Utah) and Dan Sullivan (Alaska).

But will Boner let him??

Boner and McConnell work hand in glove with Obozo - the new Bobbsy twins of treason.
