President Barack Obama got four mayors to fully endorse his nationwide program to build welcoming communities for millions of new Americans and roll out the red carpet.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed who recently made headlines for terminating his citys fire chief over a Christian book that described homosexual behavior as sin signed on late last month to join three other mayors of major American cities: Los Angeles Eric Garcetti, Chicagos Rahm Emanuel and Nashvilles Karl Dean. Reeds message to the millions of refugees and immigrants entering the country: Come to Atlanta.
Reed became the nations fourth mayor to embrace the White House push to roll out the welcome mat for new immigrants and refugees and remove barriers to citizenship, WND reports. Critics say the program has little to do with creating new citizens and everything to do with creating new Democrat voters.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently declared Atlanta an official welcoming city after Reed signed the White Houses deal to join the others.
The truth of the matter is a lot of our foreign-born population lives in rural areas in the region and so I am telling those folks, I think you are better off being inside the city limits, Reed expressed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. And if other folks dont want to stand up and welcome you, why are you there?
Join or be jeered
Upset at other mayors who havent jumped on board to roll out the welcome mat to millions of new immigrants, Reed argues that city and state officials across the nation should fully support Obamas controversial tax-funded program.
Reed blasted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is leading a group of 25 other states, including Georgia, in suing to stop Obamas plans to shield from deportation millions of illegal immigrants, WNDs Leo Hohmann informed. The states argue Obamas executive actions amount to an unconstitutional end-run around Congress.
Reed went on to make Obamas welcoming plan into a civil rights issue, also arguing that ushering immigrants into urban areas has financial benefits.
Reed told the AJC those governors and mayors who dont welcome refugees and immigrants will eventually be seen as having been on the wrong side of history and theyre also on the wrong side of the economy, Hohmann continued. Reed has done a lot of work leading up to last months signing of the deal with the federal government.
A nationwide welcome wagon
WND learned from Atlantas City Spokeswoman Melissa Mullinax that for more than a year, Reed has played an integral role in bringing Obamas well-funded Welcoming America plan to fruition.
Welcoming America is headed by David Lubell, a close associate of President Obama who met with the president when he announced his executive amnesty plans in Nashville last November, Hohmann reports. Lubells group was hatched in 2010 with $150,000 in seed money from billionaire George Soros and is now flush with federal grants.
Organizing to promote the presidents nationwide, Reed has spent an exorbitant amount of tax dollars to fund the multi-tiered project.
According to city documents, Reed agreed on Sept. 17, 2014, to implement a list of 20 recommendations from the Welcoming Atlanta Working Group, an outgrowth of Lubells national Welcoming America, Hohmann points out. Number 10 on the list was to open citizenship corners at local libraries and to conduct voter registration drives and outreach at City of Atlanta festivals. Number one on the list was to Create an Office of Multicultural Affairs with a Director who is part of the Mayors executive team.
Obamas nationwide Task Force on New Americans is being spearheaded by former National Council of La Raza Executive Cecilia Muñoz. She was ecstatic to have a major city in the South on board.
Congrats to Mayor @KasimReed & @USCIS for supporting #NewAmericans and increasing access to citizenship in ATL! Muñoz tweeted to express her excitement over partnering with Reed.
Not a good idea
Despite more and more mayors joining in on Obamas immigration program, a number dont share the presidents eagerness to implement it.
But some mayors have pushed back, including those in Manchester, New Hampshire; Amarillo, Texas; Lynn and Springfield, Massachusetts; and Athens, Georgia, Hohmann asserts. These mayors have sought to stop or slow the flow of refugees to their cities because they are becoming a drain on public services, especially schools. It is also becoming more difficult to find jobs for the refugees, some mayors say.
Jihad Watch Director of Research Chris Farrell says that Obamas Welcoming America project simply isnt good for the country.
Theyre not concerned about whats necessarily good for their particular city, Farrell insisted when interviewed by WND. What theyre concerned about is redistribution of wealth and power, and enrolling as many to the voter rolls as possible. Its about entitlement, dependency and more broadly its about voter registration drives. Because what Mr. Obama promised when he talked to Joe the Plumber was fundamental transformation, and hes very deliberate and hes keeping good to his word.

Looking past the warnings and red flags, L.A., Chicago, Atlanta and Nashville have already signed formal partnerships with the federal government with the purpose of making new Americans out of refugees and immigrants.
In addition, WND reports that dozens of other mayors across the U.S. have been partnering with the Partnership for a New American Economy on an informal basis. One dozen mayors have taken it a step further and have championed Obamas immigration program wholeheartedly in their cities.
In October 2014, after thousands of unaccompanied alien children crossed the U.S. southern border from Central America, Lubells Welcoming America honored 12 mayors it said had the compassion to welcome the children into their cities, WND recounts. Refugee Resettlement Watch blogger Ann Corcoran called them the dirty dozen.
The dirty dozen list includes L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Seattle Mayor Edward Murray, Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto, Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, Columbia (S.C.) Mayor Stephen Benjamin and Pittsfield (Mass.) Mayor Daniel Bianchi.
Its nice to see many of the blacks have forgiven the original slave traders. In fact, they are giving them a piece of the action.
“by their adding these worthless humans. “
Any description of humans that Christ died for as worthless is a classless and selfish opinion.
It is not worthy of electrons on FR.
The description of treason & the prescribed penalty seem clear enough to me. The only thing we seem to be lacking is a Congress with backbones.
That’s a little harsh and just the type of comment that
our opponents would cite to make us all look bad.
Welcome to FreeRepublic anyway.
“Any description of humans that Christ died for as worthless is a classless and selfish opinion.”
The ESV of God’s word I’m currently studying uses ‘worthless’ to describe people in certain places.
It’s far better than the Nearly Inspired Version and the New King James.
Flame away, Freepers.
And just what opponents might that be, and what comment is that to which you refer?
You wouldn't even be a runner-up in the Mohammed cartoon contest because you would be too frightened to participate.
Wait another year in this Hope and Change atmosphere and see how bad you'll look....along with the other sycophants.
I hope you get some new neighbors.
To whom do you refer to as ‘you’?
“I hope you get some new neighbors.”
As long as their heart is not as hard as the one you demonstrated on this thread...
Oh, please.
Wait a few more months and then call me and others ‘hard-hearted’!
How was your pulled pork sandwich?
Columbia, SC, must have moved far to the left since the days of “Storm Thunder”.

Yep, that’s the whole problem here. We know what Obama is, what he does. The problem is the line of defense from the President is not being utilized, the people we hire and pay for precisely for that reason are not doing their job. Like my brother says: What’s the difference between millions of Mexicans and millions of ISIS terrorists flooding the border, being flown all throughout the country and then given amnesty? There is no difference. Illegals can be either or, we just don’t know because they are illegally entering the country bypassing the line of defense that is set up. It is treason in every sense of the word. Our elected reps are deliberately and willfully placing the lives of the American citizen in danger. ALL of them who support amnesty from Obama to Jeb Bush, Rubio, Pelosi, ALL them should be immediately removed from office and tried for treason and punished if found guilty. Do that, we will never ever have another problem at the border again.
“Wait a few more months and then call me and others hard-hearted!”
Well, I’m only referring to you and your deplorable post. It was disgusting and doesn’t belong on FreeRepublic, n00b.
