Nine Georgia sheriffs deputies were fired Friday following an investigation into the death of suspect Matthew Ajibade while in police custody.
Ajibade, 21, was arrested in Savannah for domestic abuse on January 1. He was tased and chained to a chair in an isolation cell following an altercation with deputies that left three officers injured, one of them with a concussion. When the deputies next checked on Ajibade he was unresponsive. The autopsy was not released, pending possible criminal charges.

I guess you didn't get the memo.
“Wow, even when youre stopped for a broken tail light?”
I watched cops stopping people in the local two light town speed trap. They were pulling over old women and acting like Rambo with one guy off to the side with his hand on his gun. Stupid in the extreme but I guess they have to treat old white women exactly the same as hard case black pimps. By the way, we’re talking 45 in a 35 were there’s no obvious reason why it drops and if you miss the sign you’re getting stopped. I’ve missed the sign and I know its there.
There’s no information in the article that he was “beaten to death tied to a chair.”
For all we know, he died of a congenital aneurysm, or chronic alcoholic cardiomyopathy. While these guys have been fired, this happened months ago, and they haven’t been charged.
I’d wait for the autopsy report, especially since he was violent enough to give one cop a concussion.
Cops of all persuasions/agencies include persons who should never have been given authority over anyone. I have had my experiences with the different kinds but luckily no serious problems. Many problems and societal ills come from such agencies wanting to expand for their own reasons/purposes especially salaries and perks.
He was not beaten to death chained to a chair. He attacked the cops - sending one to the hospital with a concussion - after flipping out for a domestic violence arrest. He was evidently bipolar and was having some kind of episode. (He may also have been “self medicating.”)
Tasing didn’t do the job, so they chained him to the chair, probably with his hands behind him or under the chair to restrain him. There’s no mention of what he died of - heart? Asthma attack? Possibly falling over in the chair?
I’d suspect they may have been negligent in not checking on him sooner, although the article doesn’t give any details on that, either. They were probably too busy dealing with the officer’s concussion...
That said, watch for the firing of any officers involved in the death or even injury, for any reason including the original ill health of the arrestee, when the latter person is black.
Here’s the thing, it’s bad now, but when the feds take over it will worse and done in silence.
I'll go with constipation as the cause of death.
How do to spell LIFE in prison in Spanish? Death penalty applies here.
Bye,Bye
Bye,Bye
Is there any reason you’d need to struggle with a cop for a broken tail light?
“Is there any reason youd need to struggle with a cop for a broken tail light?”
No, but you don’t need to be shot in the back for it either. There are two problems: 1. People who are not willing to follow the orders of the police, and 2. Cops who have an itchy trigger finger. Both are bad, but the cops are the adults.
Just for clarification, my point is this: if someone is going to get into a physical brawl with a cop, and even if excessive force is not used by the cop, things might go wrong and that someone could get killed. It can happen in any fight, so why is it a bigger deal if one is a cop?
“It can happen in any fight, so why is it a bigger deal if one is a cop?”
Oh come on! You mean you can’t answer that question yourself? It is a bigger deal if one is a cop because he’s supposed to protect and serve, not just beat the $hit out of a citizen. Their use of force is ( or should be )_ controlled by law.
Savannah erupting in 3..2..1...
Regardless if he’s a cop he’s still a human, and he’ll defend himself just like anyone else. You can’t stamp out human nature just by pinning on a badge.
In an unrelated note, how do you say good riddance in English?
“Adios”..
..so why is it a bigger deal if one is a cop?
Because cops are agents of the state. They are sworn, armed and paid by citizens and WE GET A SAY IN HOW THEY BEHAVE.
