New climate change records have come along to remind us that Earth's thermostat is steadily pushing upward.
March 2015 was the warmest March since record-keeping began in 1880, says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. And the first quarter of 2015 was the warmest first quarter on record in those same 136 years.
That gives 2015 a stab at trumping the hottest year on record -- which was 2014.
The uninterrupted continuation of the warming trend is no surprise. The 10 warmest years on record have occurred in the past 17 years.
And though the rise in the last 10 years has been gentle by comparison, since 1910, the clear trend has been up, according to NASA's Global Land-Ocean Temperature Index.
In the latter two thirds of that time, warming and the effects on climate have been epochal, says the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. "Since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia."
Yet another broken record this March was more obvious to the eye. The expanse of Arctic sea ice shrunk to an absolute low for any March on record.
On the other end of the globe -- in the Antarctic -- sea ice has been on the gain, and this year, it hit a record March high.
But globally, the overall result is a big net loss. "The upward trend in the Antarctic ... is only about a third of the magnitude of the rapid loss of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean," according to NASA.

they have “their truth” and we have ours....
Dear CNN. It is to be referred to as “manmade catastrophic climate change.” Please make a note of it.
CNN prides themselves on being brain-dead and proud of it. They're not capable of even understanding your comment.
New temperature records ,it’s freezing here
an argument, disagreement, debate, fight or war with liberals is never won.
Liberals never, never, never stop pushing their agenda.
Where are they getting these numbers? The earth has been cooling for 18 years and four months.
” What is the correct CO2 concentration since weve has lower and much higher in the planets past.”
When we had much higher in the past, were the temperatures elevated?
I think, since Republicans control House and Senate, it would be a good time to hold hearings on this alleged global warming and expose it for the fraud it is. Call all the experts, reveal the true facts. Put an end to this liberal plot.
Surely this will happen.
NEVER ARGUE WITH CRAZY PEOPLE.......
enough evidence shows the numbers are biased, fudged, falsified and outright lies... just like SOCIAL ENGINEERING THAT HAS WASTED $55 TRILLION from the USSA economy RESULTING IN more POVERTY AND more RACISM...
the money spent on CLIMATE RESEARCH is looking for a predetermined result...THOSE WHO GO AGAINST THE FLOW DONT GET ANY MONEY.... so climate scientists are now in the group with the WElFARE RECIPIENTS.... on the DOLE.......
Oy.

Here in Colorado we are expecting snow over night (Sunday to Monday).
In Southern California, we had snow in the mountains this week, and winter temperatures, which for us means below 70 degrees.
This would be part of the global, um, “climate change”? I wouldn’t call it warming.

All you Looney liberals up in the northeast, have fun eating your crops this year. You cannot eat lies.
Hahahahahaha! We are under a winter storm warning out here in southeast Wyoming. Calling for around 10 inches of snow and high winds...usually that means blizzard.
Thankful for global warming, otherwise we might have 20 inches of snow /s.
Global warming/climate change....follow the money. That’s what it’s all about.
Just because the US had a cold winter (well, the eastern part) and just because there are cold snaps does not represent the climate across the globe...just like the above normal temps in Spain and eastern Europe doesn't represent YOUR climate. It's a fallacy to argue that point.
It's also not open for discussion that the long term climate of the Earth is slowly warming. There will be bumps and dips here and there (that will last 20-30 years) but the climate is warming. It makes everyone look foolish when we argue otherwise.
HOWEVER (BIG ALL CAPS YELLING)...the REASONS are pretty simple: We are coming out of a little ice age (LIA) and well...duh...that's what happens when you come out of a lia event...you warm. If we set the bar for "average" at the lowest level (like the AGW crowd has done) then EVERYTHING will be warmer than our average. Climate is not a static thing...all climate is is an average of extremes and means...long and short term. CO2 has NOTHING to do with it.
BUT...some of the warming we see (in the modern records) IS caused by man. It's called the heat island effect. It's the one VERY LOGICAL conclusion that the AGW crowd wont address ( and some anti-AGW people don't take into account)...that the temperature record does show in increase...not because of CO2....but because of concrete and asphalt.
When you have an observing sight (for official weather obs) in the same place for 50 years...and when that observation site USED to be surrounded by miles and miles of trees...but is now surrounded by miles and miles or roads and buildings (Bush IAH in Houston is a prime example, as is Hobby-KHOU)...then it stands to reason your temps will increase over time...especially the overnight lows (because of the shortwave/longwave radiation issue). Anyone of us can see this on a microscale by walking from our lawn to our driveway at noon on a clear summer day. Where would you rather stand?
So that's global warming in a nut-shell. The Earth is warming because we are coming out of an ice age (and probably headed back to another one this century if solar predictions are right)...and because of urbanization. The temp increases are real (somewhat) but it's not because of CO2...it's concrete...and its also a loss of observations points across the northern latitudes because the cold war ended (but that another discussion). The Earth is a big place...and just because your corner of it was cold....doesn't mean everyone's was...and really isn't a very valid debate point.
Be wise in combating the AGW fiends...not simple.
Also...the decrease in government funding....worldwide...has also taken a lot of observation points out of the database...causing those in urbanized areas to make up an increasing proportion of the data. So if I have 100 sites that record an avg temp of 50 for the year...and 20 that record an average temp of 52...when I take away 30 of those...and now have 70 reporting 49.9 and 20 reporting 52.2 (because of urbanization)...well...you get a net increase of almost .1 degree...even though the data shows cooling over all.
It's called fun with stats....
March 2015 was the warmest March since record-keeping began in 1880...but when YOU say how cold it is, remember, temperature and climate are *not* the same thing. /s
