Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, a likely 2016 presidential candidate and the winner of the 2012 Iowa caucuses, wants to separate himself from the rest of the Republican field. So he’s explaining a specific plan to reduce immigration levels to the United States in order to protect American workers from foreign labor. Santorum also praised Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, another likely 2016 presidential candidate and the current frontrunner according to most polls, for standing with him to protect American workers against a foreign labor increase.
“I think it’s important if you’re going to talk about an issue—if you look at everything I’ve done in my post-public career, I’ve been very, very specific about not just the rhetoric, but also exactly what policy is behind it,” Santorum said.
I’ve been talking about this immigration issue for a while and I noticed that Gov. [Scott] Walker has decided to join the discussion of legal immigration and having to reform that—I welcome him to that point of view and I know that’s not a point of view he’s held in the past, but I’m glad he’s adopted that.

In an op-ed for Breitbart News on Wednesday, and in this exclusive interview, Santorum said his plan is to reduce immigration from about a million immigrants per year—the current level—down to about 750,000 per year. He said this is part of his effort to help blue collar American workers get back to work and thrive economically.

I scanned the article and couldn’t find what his plan is. All it says is that he will reduce illegal immigration by 25%
kidd’s plan:
1. Build the fence. That reduces illegal immigration by 50% immediately.
2. Enact laws that eliminate anchor babies.
3. Enforce punishment of employers who hire illegal immigrant workers.
4. Implement monitoring procedures for visas that are about to expire. Enforce laws that deal with expired visas.
kidd’s plan reduces illegal immigration by 90%.
And I don’t wear sweater vests.
OK, he’s talking about reducing the number who come into this country.... I didn’t read anything substantive about “how” he was going to do it. Also, what is his plan for dealing with the 20 million Illegals who are already here? Am I missing something?
Isn't "reduce immigration by 25%" a compromise? You remove the cancer (the invaders) and bring immigration down to 0 % until things stabilize in the US.
Santorum's not the answer to the problems the US faces.
How about 50,000 instead?

Add more border patrol agents. You are now up to 100%.
Illegal immigration is a problem, but it is legal immigration that is killing us, they are one and the same.
This is about numbers, not so much legal and illegal, which makes little difference after a few years anyway, it’s just that the legals get to vote democrat sooner.
That was my single point in posting this. If Rick gets any traction from this, more of the field will adopt this stance.
Legal immigrants can be screened for prison records, association with terrorists, diseases.
The number of legal immigrants can be controlled, theoretically.
Legal immigrants are at least trying to follow the law
Illegal immigrants have no such controls.
