The Wrong Kind of Rights: Same-Sex Marriage, Third-Party Reproduction [truncated]

Full Title: The Wrong Kind of Rights: Same-Sex Marriage, Third-Party Reproduction, and the Sexualization of Children

In our culture, there is a chasm between two irreconcilable conceptions of the meaning and purpose of human sexuality and equality. For children most of all, the wrong kind of sexuality and equality has devastating effects.

“No sex! No sex was used to produce this child!” That was the proud proclamation made by one of the girl’s two “fathers” as she was hoisted up high and shown off to a group of us at the sexuality studies conference I was attending.

When I first heard declarations that “all children have a right to a mother and a father,” I admit that I was momentarily puzzled. Since every child necessarily has a mother and a father, what does it mean that they have a right to one?

A hard-hitting but very academically sound article - the kind that we need to hear more often. The clear reasons often get muddle in the emotional fray. We inherently know why, but can't enunciate it.

I've recently begun to posit to perversionphiles: what if you get your way, but consider the hypothetical that there are no longer any parentless kids to adopt, no one is willing to be a surrogate, and no donor gametes (sperm or egg) are available. What are you going to do? Will your claimed "right" to parenthood then justify your demanding the biological products or services of unwilling men and women by government force, just to "justify" your new status?

if all your Rights were bestowed upon you by your Creator... then you’d have ALL your Rights if you were alone on a deserted island. ALL of them.

if that’s the case, is there a Right to marriage?
no.

why? because in order to get ‘married’, it must be officiated by someone and you’d have to get ‘married’ to someone. but, being alone on a deserted island.... there is no one. therefore, there is no ‘Right to marriage’, homosexual or otherwise.

now... if an organization wants to officiate such an occasion, that’s up to them as they are not your slave. also, the person you want to wed would have the choice to wed, as the person is also not your slave.

there is no way a govt body can dictate to a private organization how to run its operation or who it must supply services. ESPECIALLY if providing those services would violate the religious beliefs of the organization.

simply put... there is no homo Right to marriage since there are no Rights to marriage. it’s a ceremony by a private organization performed of its own volition for its members.

Good points. Rights are not conferred on groups, not even groups of two, but on individuals.

You are eliciting Natural Law Theory-—that our Natural Rights come from the Creator and that all human beings are social/political animals and as such, have to have a system (government) where their Natural Rights from the Creator are NEVER infringed upon. But with Natural Laws comes Natural Duties and it is the primary Natural Duty of all men to raise and nurture their own offspring.

Marriage of one man and one woman promotes Natural Law (Justice). So it is ok that Laws promote “marriage’ since it encourages social contracts which create flourishing societies (promotes Virtue) and gives children their Natural Right to be raised by their own genetic parents, so they are connected to the past and future. Maternal instincts and nurturing and involved fathers are essential for the bonding and humanization (Virtue formation) and Logic in children. Feral children (unloved/unconnected) can never be civilized and destroy cultures.

Any system which separates biological parents from their children (Marxism) is dehumanization and removal of Natural Rights and God’s Laws from parents and children. It infringes on unalienable (God-Given) Natural Rights, the basis of Natural Law Theory (God’s Design) which destroys the meaning of the U.S. Constitution and Rule of Law (Higher Laws).

Any promotion of vice like sodomy, destroys the American “Justice” System—actually flips it to a Vice System of Stalin’s or pagans or satanists. It removes Right Reason and Virtue from Just Law, which makes it unjust law and unconstitutional by definition.

Children have the right to know their true genealogy.

Children have a right to know they were conceived by their biological parents in a passionate act of faithful, permanent love. No turkey baster. No petri didhes. No mad scientist parsing out the “ unfit”. No surrogate mommies to dilute the bonding.
