Mike Huckabee Pushes Senators to Resign or Quit WH Run

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s opponents in the race for the White House who are senators should either resign or drop out of the contest, he said on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday.

“If a person has a job that the taxpayers are paying for, shouldn’t that person do that job?” Huckabee, a Republican who said Tuesday he was running for president, told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on GMA.

Three of his opponents in the Republican presidential field are U.S. senators: Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Asked whether he thought his opponents should resign, he called it a clear choice.

“I just believe it’s a matter of integrity to say, ‘I don’t want this job that I just got elected to, I think I want another job,’” he said. “OK, then resign the job you want, or the job you have, and go out there and seek the one you want.”

LOL Huckabee's secret motivation for running is out in the open.

What I don’t understand is how Mike think this non-position position is going to help him stand out. It’s obviously a self-serving point of view. I can’t imagine anybody thinking, “You know he’s right, this IS a matter of principle.” What I imagine most people are thinking is, “Well I can see how that serves Mike’s interests.”

Now. Contrast that with Senator Cruz who is standing out with his policy positions.

You want to impress me, Gov. Huckabee, why want to say something to repudiate your fiscal spending history.

Just as many of us expected, Huckabee’s primary purpose for running is to bite at the ankles of other candidates, make snarky comments, and issue one-liner slams that big media can use for headlines. He was recruited for this purpose by GOP establishment insiders with money and influence seeking to stifle the success of conservative candidates.

Huckabee’s other main purpose is to horribly betray the trust placed in him by good, but misguided evangelical voters and lead them astray to dilute their influence in the primary election.

If you’re resurrecting people, might as well bring around Coolidge. Eisenhower I wouldn’t trust either.

Just because his schtick won’t fly here, does not mean it won’t fly for a certain cohort of LIV’s. First rule of the successful hustler is to know your mark.

Very telling the difference between the fresh NEW GOP POTUS candidates and the tired OLD 'has been' ones who attack Conservatives not Liberals.

Huckster ... do us all a favor; give Rove his money back and get out.

So his job is to knock out the Senators (Cruz, Paul, and the Rube) to clear the way for Jeb?

I actually agree that a sitting officeholder should resign that office to run for president. Otherwise, they have a safety net to fall back on, and I want them to have nothing to fall back on.

I want them fully committed, in it for the duration, and absolutely nothing held back. That did hold true for McCain, but Romney, sadly, could have been showing us all he was capable of.

For what it's worth ... there's not a president in the last hundred years that doesn't have their drawbacks .... Ike was a successful war commander and came home and paved America .... no doubt because of his memory of the hardships moving equipment in the case of an emergency

We move pretty good these days ... thanx to Ike.

My comment is based on that war experience shaping government policy/action

That’s a valid point, and it’s folly to think a man is going to fix what is wrong today anyways. This will take a very big group effort to attempt to correct.

What I imagine most people are thinking is, “Well I can see how that serves Mike’s interests.”

Your estimation of most people actually thinking about anything is way way higher than mine.
