GARLAND, Texas Two armed men who opened fire on a security officer outside of a provocative contest for cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad have been killed, authorities in the Dallas suburb of Garland said Sunday night.
The City of Garland said in a statement posted on its Facebook page Sunday night that two men drove up to the Curtis Culwell Center and began shooting at a security officer.
Garland Police Department officers engaged the gunmen, who were both shot and killed, the statement said.
The New York-based American Freedom Defense Initiative had been hosting a contest at the center that would award $10,000 for the best cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
In January, 12 people were killed by gunmen in an attack against the Paris office of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which had lampooned Islam and other religions and used depictions of Muhammad.

We ought to hold these free speech contests all over the US to flush all of these ISISsies out of their holes. f’em!
A SMALL SAMPLING OF THE SAYING OF BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA ON ISLAM (THERE ARE MANY MORE):
The sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer
The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam
Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of The Audacity of Hope”.
Great idea!
They’re just “gunmen”! Nothing to see here! Move along!
Really? No, not Really.
""In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.""
To even vaguely compare Japanese and German-Americans in WWII with the situation today is completely laughable. Unfortunately, it’s not funny.
Tip of the hat to the police for keeping all safe. They must have been prepared for something.
I’m glad the perps were KIA....Saves a lot of useless mediot “analysis”, and libtard posturing about jobs, rights, immigration policy, yadayadayada. Dead and done. Thanks, Texas marksmen!
No More Ft Hoods!
Allah my ex’s live in Texas!
Good one!
People need to grasp how serious Islam is about killing Americans. This is our soil!
Anyone notice that Kelly Wright on Fox News is, in essence, going down the “submission” road regarding the Muslims by repeatedly questioning whether there wouldn’t have been a better way that having the cartoon contest event in Texas? He’s saying couldn’t there simply be a Christian-Muslim meeting/discussion. He DOES NOT understand Islam and is incapable of dealing with them correctly. I hope this doesn’t become a new meme on Fox News channel.
But who are they? Why are they in the US? Where did they train?
You could have checked these “quotations.” The first one is inaccurate. I don’t recall the entire sentence, but he said, “the prettiest sound,” not “the sweetest sound.” Maybe you were confusing Hussein with Guy Lombardo.
Ahh...lighten up Francis! Quibbling does not become a FReeper.
