Depending on whom you ask, Jade Helm 15 is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.
Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Partys annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloombergs David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do such as implement martial law, seize Americans guns, and imprison political dissidents.
Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise, he said. We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens dont trust what it is saying.(continued)

Democrats are burning down cities, this story is a big nothing-burger
Looking across the ME, at what these people have done to destroy county after country, I think they have lots of practice in destabilizing governments.
Take it for what it’s worth.
Ah...you are incorrect on that. That is where I went to college. At a military college to boot. So, you can refer to me as sir, troop.
Well well well, so it comes knocking at Texas’ door for the first time.
That boils my Yankee blood.
I mean like it really ought to happen in Vermont. No fair.
That’d be the day.
Maybe they should have been sent to Baltimore
What are all those matches about then?
I believe the 1200 soldiers and sailors are above reproach. The folks on FR are all gung ho about the Special Forces every ther day. But now you are all suspect about them.
Have you lost faith in them? Do you think they would follow illegal orders? Do think they would knowingly attack civilians?
Just what does the common creeper think is going on here?
Those are the questions I asked myself. I think the fears are unfounded and the nut level associated with this has gotten out of control.
You may still be in the Army, but I’m sure not.
Agree.
Of course the total population of Texas was a lot less then.
If you are dropping your support for Cruz (which you never really supported) over this low value story, then you are dumber than Alex Jones.
Perhaps if you'd read your own post, you'd understand the point.
Plain English, again: it didn't take 1200 people to create chaos during the 1993 WTC attack.
It so.ilarly didn't take 1200 people to bomb the Alfred P Murray building.
It only takes one bad actor as seen in the June 7, 2005 deaths of Captain Phillip Esposito and First Lieutenant Louis Allen via fragging.
There is at least one report from a Texas Ranger who saw trains that have shackles in them.
No apologies from here.
Many people have the same concern about this government filled with smirky, juvenile, adolescent leftists.
To suggest that they’re incapable of anything nefarious is not realistic and to think that it can’t happen here is more in line with what you’re attributing to Mr. Cruz.
What the he** are they doing ordering military exercises in Texas? Aren’t there any open spaces in Blue States?
Noone is impugning American service people. They are just engaging in speculation about the motives of a government filled with people who consider the Constitution to be an impediment.
IMHO

“Tyop?
I googled in vain for such a thing.”
Psyop for hair lips?
(that’s all I got)
Wasn’t it a MAJOR that caused Ft. Hood? Wasn’t it a lowly enlisted tranny that turned global trust in America Upside down? And thats just two examples.
I don’t know what military schools these LTs and Sgts went to but they should close them for ineffective training.
You can support the military with all your might. That is not the same as liking the idea of having the military with arms and equipment throughout your neighborhood and city.
