The chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi said he might take former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at her word if she swears under oath that she’s turned over any relevant documents he’s seeking.
“If she were, under some theory, able to say, ‘yes, I can promise you under penalty of perjury you have every single document you’re entitled to,’ that would probably shut off that line of inquiry,” Rep. Trey Gowdy, South Carolina Republican, told USA Today’s “Capital Download.”
“There may be other questions about the security of the server or why you gave this person clintonemail dot com address but you didn’t give this person — those are all separate questions,” he added. “I just need to make sure that the public record is complete.”
Mrs. Clinton said in March that she exclusively used a private email address while serving as the nation’s top diplomat largely out of convenience. She turned over about 30,000 emails she deemed work-related to the State Department in late 2014 — nearly two years after leaving office — and deleted the rest, also wiping clean a private server and declining to turn the server over to an independent party.

Maybe never. So I see with this set up, he or someone else will probably use that scenario to their advantage to ask the question why she wouldn’t swear to what she’s been claiming all along. Someone will hammer her for that one, if not Gowdy
Anyone who thinks anything will happen o Hillary because is only deluding themselves. Things such as this are nothing new to Hillary. Her entire political life consists of one illegal act after the other. I started to use the term scandal, but her acts would have been should they had been committed by someone else, felony crimes. Yet nothing has happened to her. Hillary is, in my opinion, responsible for more deaths than father time. Vince Foster and Jim McDougal being only two. Webster Hubbell, the father, again, in my opinion, of her daughter served a prison term because of her and was prepared to serve another. I suspect that Trey Gowdy has already been sent a message by the Clinton Cartel and that he took said message seriously. If you haven’t already read it, you should read Alamo Girl’s The Downside Legacy and if you read it , review it again. It details individuals from all walks of life and powerful political offices that met their demise having, learning ,or the Clintons thought they had information about them they [Clintons] did not wish known.

Trey Gowdy is a REALLY smart guy and he’s REALLY TOUGH! And sneaky. And he’s a former prosecutor. He’s simply setting Hillary up to criminally perjure herself. Hillary doesn’t actually know what Gowdy has, so she’ll almost certainly never make such an oath. If she does, Gowdy make have the goods on her and has tricked her into lying under oath. If not, it looks like Hillary has something to hide. Either way, Hillary loses and Gowdy wins.

Probably, but I’ll play devils advocate. Maybe Trey has some info / witness that the Rats and Cacklebeast don’t know about. Cackles under oath denies there existence, Trey drops the hammer and next thing you know former candidate Cacklebeast is Lawyering up. I can dream.
Maybe, but the American people as a whole will always believe HRC no matter what. They have to believe her for their own peace of mind.
The words “sell-out” and GOP always seem like synonyms. It probably won’t be any different this time, but maybe you are seeing something that I can’t.
We know though that when it comes to perjury and the Clintons, the American people will give them a pass every time.
She already broke her promises about transparency on the foundation. Maybe Gowdy should be Obama’s next Secretary of State. He can pick up with Iran right where Kerry leaves off.

After reading the whole thread, I think Gowdy has made a mistake. She will swear on a Bible and he will have to take her at her word or destroy his image as a gentleman.
The public will soon forget about something so vague. They like action and pictures! “But she swore it!” will be their stinking excuse.
And he can’t allow the emails to be leaked, either. Same reason as above. His image would be gone forever. If he lets her skate, his image is gone only with us conservatives.

Trey Gowdy is Boehner’s boy. He’s not going to do anything.
