The problem that I have with this case at this time is that right now, based upon evidence known to the public, I don’t see the elements of many of the charges that were filed.
It looks to me like it was a sort of shotgun approach to charging them. let’s throw everything at them and maybe some of it will stick.
Basically, it does not look to me like careful thought, planning and preparation went into these charges.
But I could be wrong, I don’t know what information they have that I don’t have.
Here it seems that they're trying to please the mob, and hoped the legal case pans out. Who knows, they could get some plea deals, the could get some convictions. They might also get a messy trial that will upset the mob even more.
That's the thing about mobs, if you try to please them, they will often find something else to get angry at.
Yes, all those charges seem to create a path for negotiating to lesser charges, maybe throwing some out once these cops get legal counsel.
At best, Chris, the cop behavior is suspicious, but few buy that Gray broke his own back, neck and throat, whatever.
I just go back to the appalling lack of evidence that corroborates a thing the cops reported. Gray looked in agony in the arrest scuffle, imho. The cops said he was enraged. I don’t see that, but thought his face appeared agonized. Eye of the beholder evidence.
Not saying the cops even realized he had been seriously injured in the scuffle. In the van it was worse and no film, no evidence, too many stops and he’s unconscious.
Not good. But, nobody should be railroaded by a bunch of fascists.
