The sheriff's office says it expects the six police officers charged in Freddie Gray's death to turn themselves in at the Baltimore jail hours after charges were announced.
Maj. Samuel Cogen with the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office said Friday that his agency was processing arrest warrants for the six police officers. The city's chief prosecutor announced the charges earlier Friday.

Makes you wonder why McSpadden was still on the job.
“If that is indeed the governing statute there, it seems like his pocket knife is covered by (1), switch blade or not, and the arrest was legal.”
Yeah, it looks as if there is enough room in the language to arrest him at least.
Add massive witness tampering, snitches get stitches and less than enthusiastic prosecutors to the list, and you end up with a police force that does not arrest black criminals. The juries refuse to convict them and so they run wild in the streets. Crime is down in Baltimore simply because arrests are down. Blacks don't get arrested for beating down whites so there is an epidemic of black on white crime in Baltimore. The city is worse off than when I lived there and I didn't think that was even possible.
Yes, all those charges seem to create a path for negotiating to lesser charges, maybe throwing some out once these cops get legal counsel.
At best, Chris, the cop behavior is suspicious, but few buy that Gray broke his own back, neck and throat, whatever.
I just go back to the appalling lack of evidence that corroborates a thing the cops reported. Gray looked in agony in the arrest scuffle, imho. The cops said he was enraged. I don’t see that, but thought his face appeared agonized. Eye of the beholder evidence.
Not saying the cops even realized he had been seriously injured in the scuffle. In the van it was worse and no film, no evidence, too many stops and he’s unconscious.
Not good. But, nobody should be railroaded by a bunch of fascists.
These police officers should be stomping on their ipads and apple watches and leave the humans alone
Thanks for the correction on the warrant. The state attorney charged officers with one count of “no probable cause for arrest”.
The lead officer had suffered mental illness and had his own weapons taken by a deputy, but you probably have heard that.
Not much justification for the cops, so far.
It should have cost the taxpayers 30 or 40 million dollars. It should have cost the city so much that the lowest property tax bill was 100,000 dollars.
Hadn't heard that. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm sure there's plenty more to come out in the days ahead...about everyone involved...from the State Attorney, all the way down to Freddie Gray.
I look forward to seeing the murder charges for the VA employees who let Veterans die while in their care.
“I dont know if they should have been charged or not, but this is setting a TERRIBLE precedence where the rioting of thugs results in the legal consequence they were seeking”
If the decision to charge is correct, should they then decide to not charge them because of the riots? The riots should not affect the decision either way.
I believe that while the riots and the media circus were happening, the actual investigation was also happening, and this is the result.
Nope. "Weapon" is a defined term in Maryland law:
"Weapon" includes a dirk knife, bowie knife, switchblade knife, star knife, sandclub, metal knuckles, razor, and nunchaku.
"Weapon" does not include:
1. a handgun; or
2. a penknife without a switchblade.
So, if it was not a switchblade, it was likely not covered by the statute.
“If that is indeed the governing statute there, it seems like his pocket knife is covered by (1), switch blade or not, and the arrest was legal.”
It has been revealed that the knife was not a switchblade, it was a common belt-clip type folding knife that many people carry.
I think Clint Eastwood starred in a movie similar to this. Wasn’t it “Hang Em High”?
“Under the “same-conduct” analysis, the government is forbidden to prosecute an individual twice for the same criminal behavior,”

State attorney said his arrest was unlawful.
Argue with her.
Alright, if that is what the law states, then that's what it sates. However, I can't see how they could classify nunchaku as a dangerous weapon! (I can spin them just like Nick here can :D)
Alright. If that normal folder is not covered by that law, then it’s not covered.
