death of “black” man?? So if it was a white man, it’s no big deal.

Freddie Gray’s death ruled a homicide, police officers charged
I want to know if the accused are black police officers.
We can know for sure that the jury will be dominated by blacks, if not an all black jury, given the poopulation of Baltimore.
“Mosby announced the stiffest charge — second-degree “depraved heart” murder — against the driver of the police van. Other officers face charges of involuntary manslaughter, assault and illegal arrest.
Mosby said the switchblade officers accused Gray of illegally carrying clipped inside his pants pocket was in fact a legal knife, and no justification for his arrest.”
I’d be afraid to stand before a Baltimore jury; there’s no sense of fair play there.
The incarceration rate is much too high in this country. It’s like a police state for the black ghettos. The youth and police seem to me to have a lot of hostility towards each other. Something in the justice system is broken beyond repair imo.
I think Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned us about this 50 years ago. And he was a big liberal for you younger Freepers. Maybe we are seeing the futility of trying to civilize young men without a father in the house.
This.
Not sure how a driver can be responsible so this will be an interesting trial.
“Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore’s state’s attorney, said on Friday that all six officers involved in Gray’s arrest would face criminal charges after failing to provide medical attention to the 25-year-old black man.
Mosby said warrants had been issued for the arrest of the officers charged in the case, in addition to charges of murder and manslaughter, charges include assault, misconduct and false imprisonment.”
“She swiftly rejected a request from the Baltimore police officers union asking her to appoint a special independent prosecutor because of her ties to attorney Billy Murphy, who is representing Gray’s family. Murphy was among Mosby’s biggest campaign contributors last year, donating the maximum individual amount allowed, $4,000, in June. Murphy also served on Mosby’s transition team after the election.
Fraternal Order of Police local president Gene Ryan told Mosby in a letter before the charges were announced Friday that none of the six suspended officers were responsible for Gray’s death.”
No matter what the court verdict - there will be more emotional riots across the nation...more property damage - more lives effected - if not lost....it’s just begun people...

Like the OJ trials and all the others, media attention will be given to the trials and NOT the presidential candidates.
We will have to go around them to get the word out.
The legal theory is similar to the captain of a boat or pilot of an aircraft. In essence, the driver is responsible for the safety of his passengers. As such, the driver should have made sure that he was properly secured in his seat before driving off.
Wow! Murder?
I think that’s a bridge too far.
I think the cops injured Gray in the arrest alright, critically as it turned out, but I am not fully convinced if the cops realized it, and if a rough van ride made it worse or an assault in the van occurred.
I sure never bought into that he broke his own back, neck, and throat, or whatever. There is so little evidence for the cops story, except for them telling it. Yikes.
I remember DPM well. And, yes he was a big liberal.
But he also had a quality lacking in the counterparts of liberals today: he was basically decent and honest. The nearest equivalent I can see in today's bumper crop of liberals is James Carville, who holds no political office.
