BALTIMORE A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray banging against the walls of the vehicle and believed that he was intentionally trying to injure himself, according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.
The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmates safety.
The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoners version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.
Gray was found unconscious in the wagon when it arrived at a police station on April 12. The 25-year-old had suffered a spinal injury and died a week later, touching off waves of protests across Baltimore, capped by a riot Monday in which hundreds of angry residents torched buildings, looted stores and pelted police officers with rocks...

I agree completely.

No official release except by order of the Mayor, and she is getting her orders from the white house. All official info must first be submitted and reviewed by 0bama’s people before cleared for release.
This is all politically orchestrated for maximum effect.
Evidence known, video shows no abuse.
Video shows Gray standing on bumper and twisting his back and neck backward to yell.
So, no spine was severed prior to entering van.
Once in van, there are no police in van.
That’s what we know.
....He pleaded for an asthma inhaler. The van stopped 3 times. 1 to pick up another arrested. And twice to to shackle the irrate Gray.
And how did this other guy know it was Gray if he couldn’t see him?
When they drag him to the van he was dragging his legs, but hold his head up so it appears to me he was ok at that point.
I had that happen to me. i was climbing a 10 foot ladder attached to the wall when I hit my head on the bottom of the NEW undersized safety cage that had just been installed. I had on a hard hat, but jammed my neck so bad I had severe headaches and neck aches for a month.
I never climbed fast again.
“And how did this other guy know it was Gray if he couldnt see him?”
There were only 2 in the van, Gray and the other guy.
I’ve hit my head hard enough to break the hardhat I was wearing but it was directly on top of my head.
I was working in a shipyard and the compartment I was working in was dark and all I had was a flashlight.
I was climbing up a bulkhead and hit my head on a pipe.
Had my neck been bent down and I had hit the back of my head it probably would have killed me.
As it was I was conscious and knew what was happening around me but I couldn’t speak or move in any controlled manner.
There is no flopping around after it.
“Oh no you didden” /side to side head shake
I think he probably had had an asthma attack after being chased by the bicycle cops and engaging in unaccustomed physical exercise. He was only 25, but the life of a drug dealer usually doesn’t include jogging or fitness activities. Blacks have a hugely high rate of asthma, so he no doubt did have an asthma attack at some point.
Also, he may have had a seizure in the van. The thumping was very possibly from the out of control kicking and thrashing that the body does when the muscles lock up and at the same time are no longer under the control of the brain. People do frequently injure themselves, including breaking their backs, in the course of a major seizure. And if he was manacled hand and foot, it’s possible that his body actually snapped itself bending into an arc during the seizure.
I think the police can probably accused of negligence, both for not belting him in the first place and for not paying attention to his requests for help and possibly even, when they opened the door to put the leg irons on him, for not checking more carefully on him at that time. But it’s a long way from that to intentionally killing him or even unintentionally beating him to death, which is what the “activists” want to believe.
Outside of what we see on the video, it’s all speculation at this point.
I can just as easily speculate that he was a serial Tort Abuser and was likely trying to hit the lotto by banging his head and neck and miscalculated. The only witness, seems to confirm my speculation, but speculation it is.
BPD Comm Anthony Batts says 2nd prisoner in van with Freddie Gray reports no erratic driving by van driver and Gray mostly quiet— Jayne Miller (@jemillerwbal) April 24, 2015
A second hand media report, if it is accurate. That info will be in the police report and investigation.
I was kinda thinking the same thing. It would be interesting to see what this “witness” was originally arrested for, and what he ends up getting charged with and if any deal was offered.
Yeah, well, the witness story is corroborated by breaking news.
Head injuries consistent with bolts inside of van.
